Very much so, these are large birds. The Great White Egret can stand up to 3.3 ft (1m) tall and weighs from 1.5 to 3.3 lbs (700-1500g). It is distinguished by the black legs and feet and it's yellow bill. In breeding plumage delicate ornamental feathers are borne on the back as well as the bright green around the eyes. When it flies it maintains the neck retracted unlike other wetland birds like stork, cranes, ibis, and spoon bills. This bird is the symbol for Audubon Society, because it was endangered in late 1800's because they were being killed for those plumes. Beautiful bird, particularly during breeding season. |

These birds are in abundance here in Florida. I find their habitat to be "messy" with all the sticks and branches but to get both birds in focus with a decent depth of field you have no choice but to get lots of messy branches. The breeding egrets are especially beautiful with their extra plumage and that green around their eye. |

Beautiful shot. The background really enhances the bird and makes him stand out. Placement of the bird gives very nice leading lines into the photo. Nicely done. |

The colors are "eye catching" and make a very attractive still life. Ive not used the glow filter in Topaz but it certainly enhanced this image, making it very painterly. This would look great as a canvas. |

The colors on this shout desert, even if those were not cacti. The overall blurriness gives it more surreal feeling. Bet this would look good as a large wall art for a room. |

Looks like a turtle to me.......head just partially out and the tail at attention! Great imagination to take a pile of socks and turn it into an intriguing image. |

Great shot of the eagle. And I am pretty certain that Dave is correct, it is a Stellar Eagle (very large and the legs and tail are consistent). I use Cornell Ornithology Lab extensively and it suggests Stellar Eagle. Bird is clear and sharp. Hope you are feeling better! |

So now Tim has gotten me fixed on the golden ratio (and I have tried the golden spiral since I find it much more user friendly for some odd reason).......it really changes the perspective of the photograph dramatically. I have not found the spiral as useful in landscapes (there the ratio works better), but certainly in all my bird photography!!! So for those that do not follow me on Instagram...@sherry.icardi I do a great deal of bird photography living in Florida. Early on I discovered that you can only do so many sunrises at the beach so I found this is an excellent place to photograph birds!! I know Tuhin and Ian are on Insta, if anyone else is let me know.....would love to follow you. |

Wow great discussion and I think I'm going to have to look up these Freeman books. And do some experimenting. I love the pp you have done with this Tim, it is amazing how something that simple can change your view and make it more pleasing to the eye.
I have a little Sony Rx1r that I carry with me. It is a fixed lens, so zooming requires foot action, not hands 😊|

This was taken at the top of the highest church in Reykjavik and it is not open at night. You are correct, it would have been a great shot, but no way to use a tripod either. And in summer months it is light until late at night. So many obstacles to getting that shot. The observation area has little cement blocks to stand on and you have to shoot through iron bars so from a logistical standpoint not sure how you would do it without extraordinary means. The church at the right time of evening light is magnificent from a distance and I did get that shot! |

Beautiful image and love the misty background and the mountains. It is a beautiful golden color! The birds in flight just add that extra special touch. You never disappoint! |

Beautiful sunrise. The colors of sunrise are always amazing and add to that the rocks and water leading you right into those colors! The water looks extremely rough there. But there are swimming beaches in this area as well, correct? I actually looked Forster up because this is an area you have photographed before and you always come away with really nice images. Thanks for sharing! |

Beautiful city view! Amazing that you were able to stabilize it on the ferry. I thought they went pretty fast. You can even see all the detail on the cranes. Even the ropes hanging down from the top. Clarity is incredible. I think it will be interesting to see these when they are finished! Very nice shot! |

I've been in the same position. No matter how much I shoot, making that quick change is tough. Note my image this month has the exact same challenge. I shot at 7.1 and should have pushed that f stop up. The detail does produce a halo and significant noise (that was from the dehaze slider). The other thing I did was use the individual color sliders and increased saturation on some and decreased on others. Maybe go to color tab and play with individual color sliders. I think the blue was the most signicant change. I also used a bit of clarity to see if that helped.
It is amazing how much I learn after the fact when I'm processing and realized I really should have increased shutter speed, or f/stop. But I guess that is how we learn. |

Love the composition on this photo, the full view of the road then fading into a beautiful leading line. The detail could be better if you did some post-processing in lightroom. I tried it on the small version, but if you did it on the original it could possibly be even better. I don't remember if you use LR or not. I have attached my attempt, but it was on a small version. I've probably introduced significant noise in this .......and you can certainly tell me to take a leap.....your shot is so nice, but could benefit from just a small amount of processing. |

Great image. Sharp throughout the structure and bricks are well defined throughout. Love the moodiness and the angle of the Viaduct provides a nice leading line into the moody sky and silver mountains. Have you tried this as a B&W? Just wondering....the green grass certainly adds something to the ambiance, so maybe not.
