Nicely done. You seem to really like collages. The dancers give one the motion and the other landscape shots add to the story of where it was taken. |

Nice work getting the best out of an old car! So what is buz sim? I guess you couldn't get rid of the rust, but that certainly adds character to the old car! |

Pontoon boats are great for photography! The Cypress trees are so magnificent and the reflections add a great deal to the image. Beautiful waterscape! |

Beautiful shot. I love the coastline and snow just adds that extra ambiance to the scene. The tall fir tree adds a very nice touch to the shoreline. I look at the sky and know I will see snow! Jim's positioning right next to the life saver certainly puts it into context and adds a great component to the composition. Nicely done. |

Very cater and lovely portrait. Given the sunset in the background you did a great job in keeping her well lit and very sharp. I am surprised at 1/200 you did not totally blow out the sun. The trail in the water and the sky/water coloring is beautiful. I would suspect she is thrilled with the picture, not your average senior portrait! |

This is a great portrait and makes me think of an era long written into the history books. Intriguing and extremely mysterious. Since I rarely do portraits (only if coerced) I can only give my feelings about the portrait. I like the all black background but wonder if there could not have been a tad more light on him? But again, that may be your intent to add to the mystery. |

Visiting from group 73. I love this image! The clouds were a lovely backdrop to show off the puffin. I was in Iceland in late August and there was not a puffin to be found! Very sad that I did not get to see and shoot one. It is a beautiful place very stark and austere, but we found the people to be very kind and friendly. It is a trip I would do again. |

I have that view as well but can't see the graves as well, and I wanted the writing visible for when I get old and feeble so I know that is is in Iceland :-). We were there end of August into beginning of September, and the weather was moderate (40-50's). we were lucky and only had one day of rain..considering that is outstanding for their weather at that time of year. Interesting you ask about how they dig the graves, there is one church where the graves are raised they are the shape of a coffin and have grass growing on them. Very interesting place to visit! But the glaciers have all the snow and ice you could hope for! This was in Snæfellsnes Peninsula and the glaciers are on the southern coast. |

Ian, I was not sure about the horizon, and you could be right. I think it may be the water that gives the illusion, but you may be correct. My initial thought was no, but then I looked at it a little while and just was not sure. |

Tim, your second shot clearly highlights the building of interest. but the early morning light is clearly more "golden". It is not called the golden hour for nothing! |

I watched all the news on the Camp fire and was wondering how close it came to you. I guess the answer is pretty close. Such destruction is beyond comprehension. This is a great example of journalistic photography for the purpose of letting everyone see the after effects of a fire of this magnitude. Well documented. |

Don't you hate Mother Nature sometimes!!! I have been trying since coming to Florida to get the moonrise just as it comes above the horizon/waterline because the angle makes it just huge! I have tried almost every month, including using mirror up, 10 sec delay, and weighted down my tripod to prevent movement. None have been really successful, but at least I was not dealing with freezing temperatures! I also have noticed it is very common to have clouds at the horizon line that prevent even the attempt. Matter of fact, more often than not I have clouds. So don't despair. I will give you props for trying. The foreground and lighthouse in this is very nice. The moon's color seems a little too yellow, so perhaps tone the yellow down with your hue/saturation slider for yellow. |

This is our month for misty scenes. Love the shot! Love the variation in the landscape from the fog. And despite the fog you have been able to bring out the layers of the landscape. Only one minor suggestion, not sure if it is an illusion or is the horizon line just a little off? I think it is accentuated by the water lines so I would double check that. But stunning landscape! |

As I look at this more, the real problem is the angle, you were limited by the causeway ...... and of course since this is in Miami, you are not likely to be able to hop down again to take another photo. If you are trying to highlight that particular building unless you change your perspective I don't think you can zero in on that building. One would think with the causeway this would be a beautiful shot...and while you may think it is "bad" it is a shot of the hi-rises in Miami. I have tried to shoot cityscapes in Miami and because of the crowding it is super difficult particularly for someone who rarely shoots architecture. So please take my suggestions with the knowledge I am far from an expert in architectural photography. Perhaps if you give us a hint as to why you think it is bad...we might be able to give more pertinent feedback. |

So I fooled around with it a little , and I would suggest you crop it even more than David suggested. Since your focus is the unusual building I was a little bolder in the cropping and then I played around with hue and saturation to pinken up the skies. I know this is a pretty rough "repair job" but you get the idea. The challenge is that when you crop in tighter, the messy sidewalk becomes even more of a huge distraction (so I did a quick clone stamp) to give you the gist. It is a terrible job of clone stamping but I was try ing to minimize changes. |

I added a shot from the other side which is, I believe, what you are suggesting...look at my reply to David. So I would tell you my problem is not that I don't cover every possible angle, but rather choosing which is the best? And that still generates a great deal of "angst" on my part. I guess I still have a lot to learn! |

I considered submitting exactly that picture since I have one that has the gravestones. I was on the ground to take that one (and it was extremely cold) and shows the rugged countryside on the other side of the church....but I ended up going with the more traditional view.....but I am attaching it for you to see. I think this qualifies , the gravestones are actually on the right of the church looking toward the coastline. I took about 200 photos while in this location so I have every possible combination you can imagine! |

Ian, I love misty morning shots. They always look dreamy and mysterious. I love the leading line created by the shoreline that leads you into the scene and the mist. And the texture from the earth in the foreground. Very well done and mostly all done in camera. Bravo! |

Really great image. I love all the layers.....the sky is spectacular and the horses are really clear and sharp. That is pretty remarkable with the 200-500mm I find that the crispness on the outer fringes of the lens tend to go soft, but they certainly did not in this case. Very nice image. did you miss the water????? |

I should have picked those up when I processed it.....I had a serious problem with sensor spots while I was there. No matter what I did I ended up with either sensor spots or crap on my lens. I actually decided to have my camera professionally cleaned when I got home because if the sensor was dirty so might other moving parts, I decided it would be better handled by a professional!
So after I cleaned it up I decided to try something a little different. Thoughts critiques ????? |
