Mistake, I sent in the wrong one....I did not White Balance the one I submitted initially. I realized that after the fact. The color should be like the original (which is really not the original since I did correct the white balance. In too much of a hurry :-). |

The shadows on this are very interesting. It adds texture and interest to the nude photo. Just wish it was tad sharper on her face, she has a beautiful smile. |

So here is the original ......one, I realized I did not color correct before I submitted (this is the corrected color), but I thought this might give you perspective as to why I cropped it the way I did. I very much like the posts he/she is sitting on and the leading lines into the bird. I did not like what is to the right of the bird so I gave it as much space in front as possible while still not having the bird in dead center. I also checked the 1/60th for Dave since when I saw it , I thought wow that is remarkable considering it was hand held. But no mistake I took multiple at 1/60th 500mm and all very sharp on the eye. I was having a good day. This is in a pond right across from my home! And finally ....this is NOT a blue heron, after really looking at it, I went in search of it's real species and it is a yellow headed night heron. Now that really perplexed me since I saw no indication of any yellow in its white head. But I knew the head markings were not accurate for a blue heron and this bird was really small. I really don't like the bird in the square format and I tried other variations of cropping and just did not like the background. |

Beautiful composition! Love the sky peaking through, the shades, and light. They play off all the angles of the structure highlighting this unique structure. Great image! |

Interesting that you chose this image for this month given all the focus on the soccer team in Thailand this month. Today was the final extraction and everyone can breathe easier with he safe extraction of those young boys. The nightmare of every parent.
Now on to the photo, it is a very different culture and this picture surely brings those differences to light. The angle surely highlights the unusual length of the neck even for this young lady. I do agree with Dave that the full headdress would enhance the photo, but it does not take away the from the storytelling of this photo. |

The color palette on this is stunning. The blurring only accentuates the beautiful layers of colors. Saguaro cacti are so unique that even a blurred image can clearly identify the subject. The colors outweigh everything. I really like the image and I would not crop it at all, the colors are what this image is about. |

I am not comfortable with photographing tall buildings. I have done a few and never happy with the results. The distortion usually does me in! I will say this does not have a great deal of distortion, but more than anything it lacks contrast. Very pale blue sky and all white building give it a very dull appearance. Perhaps playing with the contest might enhance. darkening the blue of the sky would make the clouds stand out more and give the building more depth. Just some rambling thoughts!
My other group #73 has a beautiful photo this month by Tuhin Das using a fisheye at One World Trade. Also lots of tall buildings but a really pretty sky and nice reflections. |

Interesting concept. I really like having her whole body in the picture, but understand why you cropped the feet out. I think perhaps the ropes look very artificial without the "tail" in and until I saw the other two I was not sure what to make of it! The idea of bubbles is kinda fun and might be worth trying with some children! The actual model is very pretty and the lighting is spectacular.I like your last crop the best! |

You nailed that Ian, they are very different images with different intentions. The original one was all about the light and the other one was about the environment surrounding the light house. Interesting about sea roses, they only bloom for a couple of weeks a year and then they are gone! Very colorful and enchanting in blood! But given this was July I felt the addition of the flag also reminded us that it was our nations birthday. But all in all the 3 lighthouses in Nantucket were special and a lot for a very small island! |

Tuhin, I directed my other group to visit us and look at this image. We had a discussion about cityscapes......don't think I have seen one I like as much as this one....do you follow ryandukephotography on Insta? He does fabulous images of NYC. Take a look! |

Peter, this is a stunning image. I am surprised the trees are as sharp given the length of the exposure. Must have been a very still afternoon. Very dramatic and moody, but beautiful. Like it very much!!! |

I probably took 500 pics of this lighthouse and last month in Group 23 I posted a sunrise of the same light house (which is at 5AM on Nantucket). That was my favorite you can check it out by looking at Group 23 or I have one on Insta as well. There are no dusk ones because every afternoon the fog rolled in about 4PM . I have included one that has Sea Roses in the foreground. Wider angle..... |

Very poignant image, at least for those of us from USA. I really love this photo and understand why it is one of your favorite! The reflections of the buildings , clouds, and flags just set this off ! Never used fisheye, do you like it? I'm not sure i would even know how to use it correctly. Thanks for sharing Tuhin! |

Very striking! I am trying to figure out how the water droplets got on the Opera House (or are they something else?). Love the reflections in the water. Is there any thought of lightening that area up to highlight those beautiful reflections? Might not work but the reflections really add to the image. Looks like it is very crowded. Would have loved to see it in person! But that is why groups like this popular, so we can see things we may not have the opportunity to go there ourself. Nice image, Ian. |

Cityscapes seem to be the theme this month here was well as Group 23 (my other home). I find them my most difficult subject to photograph and the most difficult to critique. i never know what horizon to use and how to maintain correct perspective. This is interesting because of the reflection and the area's knowledge. The difference between old and new and the height is very telling of what is happening in our cities in 21st century. |

Tony,
Beautiful colors on this sunrise, and Ian will love the panorama aspect! The figure gives it good perspective and makes me think it must have been chilly. Was this taken in July? Sunrises always give my favorite colors and particularly right before the sun comes up! Nice image. |
