Took your advice and use a paintbrush in LR to lift the darker feathers. See attached

Thanks everyone, great discussion! And I will not despair that I have yet to capture a good image. It is very much like birds in flight. They are very difficult because of erratic motion. Getting a lock on is tough but once you do you can end up with a good photo. But you are right, keep trying and perhaps it will get easier and better! |

I have not been able to master panning. I learned all the rules on how to do it, but never been able to capture a clear image. Maybe the trick is to do it as a shadow where you are less concerned with face being tack sharp. Is that a valid assumption? |

Love the bears! Not sure I could manage overnight in a very cold blind/hide, so I am glad you did!! Your focus is spot on and their activity adds some interesting action to the shot. Very nice! Bears are very popular wildlife subjects and they are fascinating animals. In the States most folks go to Alaska for bears. Too cold for me! Very nice image. |

I love this image. So mysterious and ethereal. Certainly was a great day at the lake. I don't mind the boat, I think it gives the cypress trees some size perspective. |

Great capture! I love butterflies and photographing them is certainly a challenge! Ive been to Butterfly World in Coconut Creek, FL and love capturing their beauty. The one that continually eludes me is the Blue Morpho. They just won't hold still and move way to fast to get a clear image of those beautiful blue wings. |

Beautiful colors and great silhouette. What shutter speed, ISO and aperture? Was he actually in motion or stopped to see the sunset?
simple subject certainly gets my attention. I like it's simplicity. |

1. The name "Amen Corner" was coined by Herbert Warren Wind in a 1958 issue of Sports Illustrated. He wrote of the sacred spot: "at the farthest reach of the Augusta National course-down in the Amen Corner where Rae's Creek intersects the 13th fairway near the tee, then parallels the front edge of the green on the short 12th and finally swirls alongside the 11th green." Wind claimed that he'd been inspired by a jazz song called "Shouting at Amen Corner," by Mezz Mezzrow. But it turns out he'd misremembered the artist. It was actually recorded by Mildred Bailey and the Dorsey Brothers Orchestra in 1933 and carried a slightly different name: "Shoutin' in that Amen Corner." Amen Corner, geographically, is the second half of 11, all of 12th and the first half of 13, but most people use Amen Corner as the umbrella term for 11, 12 and 13
Since I know nothing about golf here is what I found when I googled Amen Corner |

Beautiful scene and well captured! Ive not yet been to Crater Lake but it is on my list of must sees. I really like the treeing the foreground, it is detailed and rugged looking. |

Love the colors and the lone seagull (and his reflection in the wet sand) . It is a great example of the Blue hour. That is probably my favorite time to shoot, early morning light is so pretty. You should call it Serenity! |

The more I look at it the more I like it. It is realistic. I am surprised there are only two cars on the road. Looks like an industrial area so would expect more cars. You must have done this on the weekend. At first I considered a pano by cropping the bottom, but then realized it is a good leading line into the photo. It pull your eye right across the entire image.
I might consider getting rid of that tall poll right in the middle with Photoshop, but other than that nice job!!! |

The clouds in this are striking. Not sure you can tell where the lake begins because of the snow! I also noticed some birds in the middle ground but clearly not close enough make anything out. My only suggestion....I find the dormant tree's branches very distracting, bringing my eye back to those branches too quickly. Especially because of the beautiful cloudscape in the background. But I think if you try to remove it in photoshop it would be too hard, and cropping would lose quite a bit of the picture. |

Nice shot. Love the surfer and the "city lights" in the background. In post processing you brought up the clouds and improved the background dramatically. Nice image. |
