I think the picture is pretty stunning, the model is beautiful and you have captured her spirit in the face. I do not think the shadows are that apparent. The only thing distracting is the watch. I might consider using photoshop to remove the watch, but that is picky! I love the sepia even more, it is just different and striking. I am not skilled with people photography because of the lighting. Envy people that can do it well, and I think you captured her "soul". |

WOW. Stunning image and on luster paper it must be a fantastic addition to your images. Very sharp and the black and white is so nice. Great work. |

Beautiful image. The sunset tones are special and the birds are beautiful! Especially like the variety of placement and activity. Nice leading lines from the leading foreground as well as background. In this case even the birds become leading lines. Very nice !!! |

Great lines and had to have been a difficult shot. Wonder if you could have gotten more of the stair edge on the right with a wider angle lens? I know the area is very tight so that may not have been possible. Did you try this one in black and white as well? Not sure it is not already, but the "white" appears more cream to me and this is already for sure almost a monotone. I too love the circular stairs and the lines they create. I like to be at the top and shoot down. I doubt that option was available in a lighthouse though. Really nice image and very captivating. |

Different kind of photography processing for sure. Not sure I would say it is something I would do, but it is certainly interesting and creative. I am sure some folks really like doing the impressionist look, it just seems to go against all I have tried to work towards (tack sharp images). |

You always have images that make me study and look closely to attempt to follow your thought process. This is no exception. You are certainly creative!

Thanks Peter. Do I did not use HDR. In general I am not a fan of HDR (I know heresy). I really should consider doing that or an ND filter. It would take a lot less processing time. I did use an ND filter in processing to get the sky a little darker. I exposed for the buildings. But I was really focused on the composition since I struggle with streetscapes. Can you tell I can be singularly focused?
One of my weak points is properly assessing the entire environment and making a conscious choice based on the bright sky and the dark below. I have found myself repeating that mistake over and over! One of these days it will sink in!! As soon as I download them into LR ,I groan! |

Nice photo. You keep getting more and more focused on what makes a good landscape. I enjoy seeing the growth and changes over a short amount of time. Very nice. Food for thought a few clouds would enhance it even more! So look for them to include in your next landscape and see what you think! |

Beautiful image. Love the smooth water, and the "mystery" the fog added to the photo. Very nice! What were your setting? |

Wonder who's snowshoe print? I think I would be frozen waiting for sunset. I love the landscape and the framing is spectacular! Were you laying down on the snow to get the image? Just realized Ian asked the same question. The post processing is outstanding and brings out the best in the colors. Really nice image. Love it, and love the story behind the capture, it makes it much more personal. |

I have never tried infrared, I thought you had to take it with a specialized camera. Interesting how it changes the picture so dramatically. I would love to hear what characterizes a picture that would make you think infra red. I would think most of our group would be interested. Thanks for anything you car share! |

Definitely prefer this one as a black and white. I think it adds depth and gives the winter scene more power. But I do agree, nice to look at but just as a visit. I recently moved form NE and do NOT miss trying to get to work every day regardless of what Mother Nature has surprised us with overnight. It is beautiful when pristine like this photo, not so pretty when it becomes dirty slush! |

David, I really like the panorama. But for those of us on the East Coast, what is HNL ? The post processing improved the the picture a great deal. I agree with Tony, the hedges were superfluous and does noted much to the image. |
