Hi Andrew, a very cool image! I like your use of light to keep the eye following round the image. I also like your transition of light to dark in the background, which adds to the effect. Great experimentation. |

Hi Tom - I love old rusty things, they make such good images. I like Cindy's suggestion, and I wonder if selecting the arm, disc and chain, then using a curves adjustment layer to lighten slightly might lift it off the background. |

Hi Bob, I agree with Cindy's comment, and like Tom's solution - it really works. Another use for this image could be as a background texture. I have a folder of images that I can overlay as textures for portrait images, when the background just needs something to lift it. |

Hi Nelson, I love your composition and you have great colour and sharpness. I agree with everyone's analysis, removing the flare really improves it, and of course you do now have next year's Christmas card! |

Hi Cindy, I love what you have done with this image. Composition is great, your use of light and dark is spot on, it is sharp even at high ISO, and it has multiple layers of interest. Wonderful! |

Hi Jessica, this is such an interesting and fascinating image. I agree with everyone's comments - a play with selective light and dark, with whatever method you choose, would guide the viewer's eye and hold attention. |

Thanks Jan - I like your suggestion. It gets around what has been bothering me with the image. I'll have a play! |

Hi Denise, I love this - you've captured that early morning light so well. I too would crop down from the top, the feeling of depth comes through your selective edits and the depth of field effect these enhance. I like your edits - you've created an artistic image that feels warm and special. An image that would be good to print and hang on the wall :) |

Hi Linda, what a lovely, peaceful scene. I like your capture, composition with leading lines and vanishing point and your colour toning. I like Denise's suggestion of a crop, it definitely adds to the depth. What a lovely place to be! |

Hi Jan - what a beautiful artistic image. I love what you have done! I do like Linda's suggestions and the crop she has suggested. My preference would be to only slightly mask back the texture on the subject's face. It would remain more in keeping with the rest of the image. Your colour toning is also perfect - I love it! |

Hi Connie, you've captured this beautiful orchid really well. I agree with the comments about noise. I would run a de-noise, at a level that retains the sharpness, especially sharpness of the centre. You've done well to minimise the effect of the supporting pole on the right - it doesn't distract.
Looking at everyone's suggestions, my preference would be to keep the image in colour. IMHO colour is such an important part of evoking emotion when you look at flowers. I do like the suggested crops and a slight rotation. |

Hi Carol, your image is fabulous. I agree with Connie and Denise about the long stem, and I like Denise's crop, which is only slight. I also am unsure about the pink vignette. My first instinct would be to use a grey, reminiscent of the centre stamens but much lighter, if you need one. But looking at Connie's crop, with the pink removed, I like the background without vignette. Well done! |
