Thank you all for your comments. I thought I'd let you know that the mother has had this printed as the cover image for a book of memories for her and her husband to keep. |

Hi Laurie - welcome!
I love this shot - I think that the softness of the outer petals gives the flower added dimension. Especially as sharpness progressively increases towards the centre - the focal point.
I also like the monochrome treatment you have given the image. |

Hi Marcela - I agree with Cindy and Jessica. I wonder if increasig the detail and/or contrast in the lower half of the right-hand flower would enhance. This might make it stand out, almost with a 3-D effect.
They are beautiful flowers! |

Hi Nelson - I agree with the above comments. I love the way the colours pop out of the monochrome sand, and that the damaged and dying petals are darker toned. You have created an interesting layered image. |

Hi Cindy - I agree with Jessica and Marcela, this is a lovely, well-composed image. I also don't mind the wings fading into the background at the top. It seems to draw the eye more into the converging patterns on the wings, and down to the butterfly on the flower.
If you did pull the vignette back a little, it may bring out the antennae a little more - and we might also see more clearly that the butterfly is drinking nectar.
Lovely! |

Hi Jessica - I see why you had to take this shot! I love the way the petals fold into each other, and even the veins in the petals are so well-defined.
I would like to see a focal point in the image - or maybe a path for my eye to follow. Slightly lightening the central rose might help there. Beautiful shot. |
