Hi Nelson. I don't know much about infrared, but I do like the 'other-worldly' feel of this image. The crop you have used highlights the plant with it's textured stalks and seed heads, and you have left enough background to retain context and depth.
I really look forward to seeing more of your infrared images, and to reading comments from someone who knows more about this genre than I do. |

Hi Marcela. This is a really interesting shot. I've learned something about snails! I like the way you've captured movement in the snail - it is exploring the branch with it's tentacles. Even though the colours of the snail and branch are quite similar, you have managed to separate them and focus the viewer on the snail.
If you shot at 1/250, I assume it was handheld? I see you said it was a cloudy morning, so I'm guessing the light wasn't wonderful for you. It would be good to see if you could slow down the shutter speed a little using a tripod (snails are not racers!). This could potentially give you a chance to lower the ISO. We get early morning cloud and fog here at the moment, so I've got used to carrying a tripod with me when I go out for a walk. The other thing I do is to rest my camera on something to steady it.
Well captured! |

Hi Janet. You've managed to capture a great moment with this image. I like the way you have used a triadic colour grade, which gives emphasis to the top dragonfly, and softens the second one.
What was your ISO setting? We get dragonflies here, as I live by a lake. I know that I also have to use a fast shutter speed and often quite a high ISO if I don't want to open the aperture too wide.

Hi Jessica. I like the simplicity of this image, enhanced by your tight crop. The image is lovely and sharp, and the Topaz filters are perfect.
The cooler background in the upper-left corner helps the left-hand dahlia to stand out. My eye then travels back to the warmth and light of the right-hand flower. Well-balanced and lovely!

Hi Cindy, your image is beautiful. I like the way you have colour graded, with the warm colours of the lily and the leaves around it fading out to cooler, darker background edges.
The curving leaves hold the eye in the image, and the pattern of the veins highlight the simplicity of the long lines of the flower, without detracting from it.
You've got great sharpness and clarity for a handheld shot!
