45 Sep 18 Comment Cindy, this is simply stunning. Absolutely fantastic. You have totally transformed the image.....but in a good way.....while keeping the essence of the image, the owl, as the main focus. This is like a studio portrait. How did you get the owl to pose for you like that? And how did you get him into the studio? Hah! To me this image is a good example of a photographer using software tools to create a beautiful image. I love it. Sep 12th
45 Sep 18 Comment This will be an easy review of your image, Don: outstanding! Terrific effort all the way around. Cropping is done well, with the hummingbird on the left side and its body along with the flowers all flowing from lower left to upper right. In fact, the entire flow of the image points to the spider. That spider was a nice bonus. Your method also points to the fact that we should not be hesitant to boost ISO when needed. Today's camera sensors, plus post-processing techniques using RAW, make image noise much less of a problem compared to a few years ago. Sep 12th
45 Sep 18 Comment Ed, you've given the photo an excellent title. I want to know, too! This is the cool thing about street photography, capturing the moment, a candid moment. You have succeeded in doing that. I agree with you about being shy and getting too close to people. I feel the same, as if I am invading their privacy. I know that is a crucial aspect and issue for street photographers. Ideally the photo would be zoomed in tighter, but we need to work with the lens we have with us. I like this "moment" and the monochrome treatment works well. Sep 12th
45 Sep 18 Reply Richard, this is a very nice alternative to Charlie's image. Terrific. Sep 12th
45 Sep 18 Comment You've captured a nice moment in time, Charlie. These little pop-up "concerts" are pretty cool and a pleasant surprise when we encounter them. I think you have the image cropped appropriately and I like that the player is placed on the left side of the image facing "in" towards the piano. The colorful piano is the star of the show and has a prominent place in the image, too. I can almost hear the music he is playing when I see this image. Sep 12th
45 Sep 18 Comment This image has too much going on and I don't know where to look or focus. I don't detect a central subject or theme. Ideally in a large group photo like this it would be great to shoot them directly from the front so their eyes are looking toward the conductor and you would have the conductor and the musicians in the same image. Or an alternative would be to focus on one or two people and shoot them much tighter. Sep 12th
45 Sep 18 Comment Richard, I think you captured the part of the ride that is most exhilarating, right at the top and upside down! Nice job of getting ride of spots and extraneous lights. At first I was distracted by the bystanders in the lower left of the image, but they have an exciting look on their faces and are clearly caught up in the excitement of the fair. Sep 12th
45 Sep 18 Reply Thanks, Richard. Sep 12th
45 Sep 18 Reply Thanks, Cindy. I agree with you that Ed's version is even better with the straightened buildings on either side of the image. The river was a nice anchoring point. Sep 12th
45 Sep 18 Reply Thank you, Don. Here are the settings: 16mm, f/4, ISO 400, 1/60s

It really was a quiet and calm morning to an otherwise hectic big city, so I am happy the photo conveyed some of that calmness.

45 Sep 18 Reply Ed, you did a really nice job getting the buildings on the edges of the image to stand straight. I appreciate the effort. Your process in Photoshop is something that I need to look into and learn. Thanks again! Sep 12th
