Lovely image, Peter. The gas bubbles are just stunning - assume you were pretty low to the ice on a tripod for the perspective. |

Agree with both Sherry & Tony, a polarizer would help here especially with the light coming from the side. Maybe I'm too gullible but I've spent way too much time looking for riders! :) |

Thanks, Tony! Mt. Diablo is actually to the right of this - thanks for the compliment! |

Just for fun I covered the left side of my screen on this photo...right to the edge of the rocks in the lower center. For me visually it helped draw my eyes/focus to the subject which I believe is the lighthouse. Sometimes using a telephoto lens in landscapes will have the same effect for composition if you prefer not to do edits in post. |

Love this Sherry! I also like your post process, straightening the horizon and cropping, in addition to adjusting highlights/shadows etc. Curious what this might have looked like with a wider angle - going down to your 55mm max and giving more to the right, or, if clutter on the right side prevented it. Excellent detail for shooting on an unstable boat - hence the 1/200th I'd assume. If from land on a tripod using an ND filter would have been a fun exercise - bringing out the shadows and cutting the brightness of the sunrise some. Love water shots...and boating! |
