Thanks Ronald, you hit the goal with your comment. My intention was to show not only the action of the two players battling for the ball but the entire scene. I wanted the viewer to see the crowd with the words "Welcome to Green Hell". The third player in the scene was actually the reason I was photographing this game. He is from Sweden and I was shooting for a Swedish magazine. |

Don, a great image, my suggestion would be to crop as my file eliminating the distracting items on the sides. Bruce |

Andre, "Holy Mouse" another winner. Throw away the rules, this to me is Well within what the description of a PJ image is about, ie the technical qualities are not as important as the story the image tells. I can spot several technical issues with the image, but who cares with the story captured by you creativity. Bruce |

Ronald, Like your I like the face looking out of the scrum. I also like the face looking out from the bottom left of the scrum. Bruce |

Isaac, Nice sequence showing the entire scene, your posted images shows clearly that she was successful in saving a goal since the net is is between the ball and the goal. The details of the goalie are great showing her face, and a great dive with feet in the air. The kind of sports shot I strive for. Bruce |

Thank you Maria, I thought about removing the last whale but thought it would be ok since it was mostly under the water. By the way, these are Orca/Killer whales not humpbacks. I mentioned humpbacks because we saw some on my recent trip to Alaska two weeks ago. |

Hey Adrian, nice image of the lilies. The flowers form a v pattern that is pleasing and the low angle makes them stand out. Just a thought, changed to a vertical crop to remove the two out of focus flowers in the background. My only other thought is the four F's of photographing on an overcast day. 1. Flowers, 2. Forest, 3. Faces, 4. Falls. Not much you could do about the bright sun though. Bruce |

Maria, your post processing is spot on with sharpness in all the right places. Awesome details of the bee for such a large crop. Nice composition color, can not see anything to improve. Bruce |

Richard, I like the narrow depth of field and the low perspective with the water blurred in the background. I have not seen an oyster catcher chick before but would love to have had your opportunity. Bruce |

Karen, I hope it did not jump on you. Really a cool image, with super sharp details. It took me a few moments to realize that it was vertical. I love the catch light in the eyes. Very interesting. Bruce |

Maria, as the others have said, great image for so many reasons. A very difficult scene with all areas being a mid tone. Very nice. Bruce |

Thanks Cindy, You are correct that Bernardo was better and has been for several years. I was visited Bosque and Bernardo in December, it never fails to deliver a great photo location. I have heard that the Rio Grande is dry right now so most likely will not host many cranes so Bernardo will be the hot spot again. Bruce |

Adrian, I have run into this issue many times with owl images and for my eye, seems to be the best solution. The space to the left of the tree seems to draw the eye away from the owl. Bruce |

Cindy, I really like your image, It shows interaction of the pair along with spot on exposure, sharpness, beautiful blurred background and what a great perch. I bring home perches like yours all the tine and would love to have this one. Really well done. Bruce |

Hey Adrian, It sounds like a perfect place for flight shots with different species. My lives in London and would consider visiting it when I come to see him. As Jerry said, the image is sharp, well exposed and the tilted angle is nice. I thought about the composition of the trees and adjusted to remove the space on the left side for you to consider. I have had this problem with trees framing birds before and found this crop to be helpful. Bruce |

Hey Steve, You caught the wing movement just at the right time as it was about to change from up to down making the wings sharp except for the tips as Jerry noted. You had nice light and the image is sharp where needed, Bruce |

Sanat, Very nice image with the bird carrying its meal in flight. I have made a few adjustments for you to consider, the main one being increasing the exposure a bit to bring out all of the details that are not visible in the dark areas. Next I cropped your image to eliminate some of the background but leaving enough to see the environment and move the egret to the left giving it room to move through the frame. Most wildlife photographers try to keep the subject out of the center. Of course these are only suggestions for you to consider. Bruce |
