Ronald, you make a strong case for images without the ball and your additional image supports it well. I find the same problem with my soccer images since the action away from the ball can be quite powerful. Bruce |

Hey Gordy, Thanks for your nice comment, the next Roy rodeo is the first week end in June. It is held in September and June. I read your Bio here on the study group 25, and am impressed with your service and experience. The 400 2.8 is my favorite lens but use the 100-400 for the rodeo. I have learned over the years where to stand to get the best photos at the rodeo in fact received the Best of show in photojournalism last year and a score of 9/9/9 in small color prints at the Puyallup fair a few years ago. Would like to talk with you about some of my wildlife locations if you are interested. Bruce |

Don, this is fine sports image that is sharp, perfect exposure , good crop and peak action. This demonstrates what sports photography is all about. You have captured the story of the moment. My only nit is the parents in the background which is pretty much unavoidable in youth sports photography. I try to shoot from the ends of the field to avoid this problem but does not always help. Fat guys with not shirts and porta potties are my most hated. Overall a fine image. Bruce |

Thanks Ronald, I have similar images of the same guy in similar circumstances a years ago, He just will not give up no matter what. The Roy rodeo is a very small community but seems to have a first class event. Bruce |

Isaac, I have watched this in Brazil and on television and being a soccer fan enjoy seeing the skills required to play. My wife met Zico in Rio and got his autograph while he was playing soccer volleyball another interesting game. The people in the background are distracting, but goes with the location of the game. You really caught peak action and enjoy seeing it. Bruce |

Gerald, a very good basketball image with great action. Your position behind the goal gave a great perspective. There are no other players in the frame to distract from either player. I notice that you were in the Who's Who PSA journal. Congratulations. |

Ronald, I have to agree with the others. If only the ball was there it would add a purpose to the image. The same thing applies to my soccer images, the ball needs to be in the frame in my opinion. |

Thanks Hans, there were no injuries in this event but it is hard to see how that could be. Bruce |

Hans, I had the opportunity to photograph the US navy Blue angels so can appreciate how difficult it is to get a nice image like yours. You captured it perfectly, well done. Bruce |

Thanks Isaac, It is pandemonium, there were four teams with four cows released at the same time. The teams get wrapped up with each other and the cows trample anyone who gets in the way. The bald guy was amazing and would not give up no matter what the situation was. After they subdue the cow, one team member has to milk the cow to get a few drops of milk into a pop bottle size bottle and then run to the judge who confirms that there are a few drops of milk. |

Barbara, Your emu image really stands out. My suggestion would be to burn the light colored stick next to it's right leg. Bruce |

Maria, you image is very sharp and nicely blurred background. I thought that the grasshopper was missing one of it's antenna, but after looking closer it appears to be blurred out. You managed to get a good view of both eyes drawing the attention to the bug. The background color is identical to the bug so I darkened it so provide some contrast and separation. Thanks for sharing this image. Bruce |

Adrian, two amazing images showing what a beautiful place Greenland is. Both are awesome, I might suggest increasing the contrast on the first one to make the shadows and dark areas of the water stand out. Wish these were my images. Bruce |

I think this is a small female pronghorn, both male and female have horns however the females horns are much smaller often appearing as bumps. I also got wonderful images of the male who was keeping the females rounded up and making sure they did not run away. |

Isaac, You present a very nice image of the elephants showing several behaviors including nursing, and scratching. Your crop and exposure are just right. I like how the female is looking straight at the camera making a connection with the viewer. Well done. Bruce |

Thanks Sunat, I have been taught that many times there is another image within the image, so sometimes another person will see it differently. Bruce |

Thanks for the comments on my image. You have a keen eye and noticed that the eye was not prominent, something that I missed. I will look to see if I have another file which has more of the eye.. Bruce |

Sorry My cropped suggestion did not appear in my original post.
You can see that it provides more room for the front of the bird and only eliminates areas that do not add anything to the image. Of course you are the presenter and this is only a suggestion for you to consider. Bruce |

Hey Adrian, I always envy your travels and would be following you if old age was not getting in the way. The brilliant colors really add to this image along with the great perch and nice subject. After looking at the original, I see why you chose this crop to eliminate the bright object on the top of the frame. For my eye this crop is crowding the bird so tried a 16x9 aspect ratio for you to consider. This allows you to eliminate most of the bright object and still give the bird some room. Just a thought. Cindy, You have a very nice image of the Pewee. The pose is great with eye contact on a nice perch. Wonderful clean background with complimenting color. Sharp with good details in the feathers. And a catch light on the eye for the cherry on top. Indeed a first class image that would go nicely on any birders wall. Bruce |

Jerry, you are lucky to live in one of my favorite places to go for bird photography. I to always love photographing spoonbills with the blue background. You have good exposure, sharpness, and crop. I would crop out most of the perch since it adds an element of man. Bruce |

Steve, Your description of the scene made me think that this is what photography is all about for me. Being out on a cool morning with a warm drink and a donut and seeing the wildlife.
A great choice for your card collection Bruce |

Sunat, Nice documentary type image of the duck. Your processing has enhanced the image making the duck stand out, It is sharp and well exposed. As an image to use as a piece of art on the wall I would crop it differently giving more room on the left side of the image. I have provided an example from your original. I always enjoy seeing your images showing the wildlife of your part of the world, Bruce |
