Wow, Hans your image really shows detail and intensity. On my screen the image is a bit washed out but really like it. Bruce |

Thanks Hans and Isaac, I have been fortunate to have so many opportunities for soccer images. I spent many hours Playing, coaching, running soccer camps, educating coaches, taking more than a thousand young soccer players around the world to play in tournaments and now photographing. All this in addition to being a Physical education teach for nearly 40 years. I am a lucky man. Bruce |

Thanks Mary, these owls often interact with Harrier Hawks in a great show of flight control. Bruce |

Mary, You are the underwater meister of underwater photography. I do not like to go underwater due to ear problems so will no have that experience. Also I do not swim with anything that is bigger than I am has big teeth. I agree with Isaac regarding the image. Well done. Bruce |

Thanks Isaac, good comment on moving the owl off center, by the way this is a short eared owl, not a barn owl. Bruce |

Isaac, We do not get to see many images of mongoose but you present many of them. Africa provide mid tone colors so exposure is a snap with these guys. I would like to see a little more interaction with some of them looking at you but still a nice image. Bruce |

Adrian, You captured great action, especially with the zebras looking directly at you. It is easy to see how it won the gold medal. Don't care for the stump, but it is still strong enough to make up for that. Bruce |

Barbara, even though these are beautiful it is still difficult to capture interesting images. The color, texture, pose, all combine to make you image special.Bruce |

Hey Maria, a very nice image with a blurred background making the birds stand out. You captured some nice interaction. It is very sharp and exposure is spot on. Well done. Bruce |

Leah, Welcome to the group, I hope you find it interesting and a learning tool. I grew up in Idaho Falls and moved to Tacoma, Wa in 1975 so have roots that grow deep there. What part of Idaho do you live in? I love your image documenting the long life of the structure, I will bet that there are some stories that it could tell. My main interest is in wildlife photography and hope you enjoy viewing it. Looking forward to seeing more of your work..Bruce |

Thanks Marge, My objective with this one was to make the viewer take a second look so am glad you did. I have many images of these guys, there is a lot of interaction of the owls with other birds of prey including northern harrier hawks, and even bald eagles which will attack the owls and try to steal the vole from the owl. The difficult thing about it is that they only hunt for a few hours a day and just perch on a sign or pole much of the time so you have to persistent and lucky to get good light on the right side to get good images. Thanks Steve, Owls can not move their eyes so must twist their heads to change the view. I really like this view because it does make you take a second look. Bruce |

Thanks Cindy, I have made four trips to this location this winter and the owls hunt mostly in the late evening so only have about and hour to shoot. It involves a six hour drive and about 300 mile drive round trip through horrible Seattle traffic,( some of the worst in the USA}. I have taken several thousand frames of them and am keeping about 200 so have every head position. Lighting can be a challenge being the the Northwest as well. Bruce |

Jerry, thanks for you comments, I chose this image to present because of the twisted head showing an unusual view. Bruce |

Steve, I also like the way the leaves frame the bird. The yellow and green really compliment each other also making he bird stand apart. A suggestion from me would be to crop a bit off the left side making the bird more prominent in the from. Bruce |

Peacocks are beautiful birds, especially when displaying. Not commonly seen in a tree here in the USA making this an unusual image. If this were my image, I might try using a vertical crop to eliminate much of the the distracting branches and make the bird more dominant in the frame. Bruce |

Adrian, you got a wonderful image of this hummingbird with just the right shutter speed to allow some blurring of the wings but keep the body sharp. You captured a great pose with a catchlight in the eye, adding life to the image. I remember the purple flower from my images in Costa Rica. Well done as usual. Bruce |

Marge, I have spent many hours wondering what I am doing sitting waiting for some action to happen, thinking I am an idiot when all of a sudden the magic happens. You do not get good images without being there so it is worth the wait even if you don't get the shot you wanted every time. You really did get it to stand in the spot light so was worth the wait even if you did not get it to fly. Bruce |
