Don, Nice action image showing the confrontation between the two players. The image tells a story and makes you wonder what was the result of the battle. To me this is what sports photography is all about. Even though the background is distracting, the action is strong enough to make up for it. And as Isaac said you can always borrow my 400 2.8 which was designed as a sports lens for the great backgrounds is produces. Well done. Bruce |

Hans, thanks for your comments, I think the change in turf color resulted when I darkened the background a bit and looks better with your edit. My collection of soccer images is pretty deep. I started in 2005 just taking photos of my grandkids soccer games and making posters for the other parents, selling them to fund getting new cameras and lenes. Over the next years I took over 1,000 young soccer players around the world to compete in international tournaments giving me the opportunity to get many images of high level players. From there I had the opportunity to photograph for a Swedish soccer magazine giving me access to to field of MLS teams and even photograph the Women's World Cup. I still try to go out to local youth soccer games to keep up my skills so am getting a few images to add. I also have over 100,000 nature/wildlife images so keep pretty busy, Bruce |

Gerry, the bike and rider are amazing with vibrant colors, really sharp and leaning position. I agree with Isaac that it needs more space, especially to the left. Bruce |

Kerry, Thanks for presenting this image with for me a new event for me, it sounds like a pretty cool event. You chose settings that allowed getting the beast, horse and rider sharp and good exposure. I might try dodging the riders face a bit to eliminate the shadow. Bruce |

Isaac, you really nailed this one with a really sharp car and nicely blurred background. Being able to shoot a few thousand images to get it right without having to purchase film sure helps to get things right. Perhaps a little more contrast would make the car stand out from the background but looks awesome as is. Bruce |

Ron, you really nailed the focus getting the airplane razor sharp and blurred background, Being able to see the head of the pilot adds interest as well. With todays processing there is plenty of feature in the sky. I like it a lot. Bruce |

Hey Hans, Nice Rugby image with the scoring player. I like your set up with the R-5 and lens set up for sports. The image is a little bit busy in the background but the subjects are strong enough to keep your attention. The image shows a lot of muscle and face detail. Sounds like a fun game to photograph with lots of scoring. Bruce |

Thanks Maria, you have a sharp eye for details and appreciate your input. This image was taken in Yellowstone National Park where the large bulls like this one force their group of cows back onto the woods very early just after sunrise so they are not an easy subject to capture in the best light. Hey Mary I know this vantage point well and think my tripod legs were in the same holes as yours. I like your composition with just the right amount of space both above and below the falls. It really is a spectacular view from there. I also notice the color is a bit oversaturated. Bruce |

Maria, Dang I am glad I am not a fly around this guy. This is an amazing image showing nature as it happens. I do not mind the shallow depth of field. for me the important things are the eyes and the fly which are very sharp. You might consider cropping of a bit of the top to focus more on the spider. That area is quite bright, and seems to draw attention away from the subject. Bruce |

Isaac, Technically your image is spot on and being in Kenya it makes me think that they are really thirsty or brave with crocodiles around in the water. You got a nice reflection with a low perspective. I can not see anything to improve a fine image. Bruce |

Adrian, You really got a sharp image of the bird especially with a large crop. I like the wing position and the way the gorget stands out. It appears that the bird is looking at you. To my eye the flower on the left is distracting, but I know you do not like to change or remove things in photoshop. Will look forward to seeing more of your images from Costa Rica. Bruce |

Thanks Steve, I have been lucky to get quite a few owls in flight images including great grey, great horned, long eared and snowy owls. I feel really blessed to have had the chance to see them. Bruce |

Marge, Who has who in this scene? Not a thing you see every day so really grabs your attention. My only suggestion would be to apply a bit of dodging to the eyes of the GBH.. Really a cool image. Bruce |

Thanks Cindy, Any time in winter is good in the Skagit Valley Which is a farming area providing habitat for these owls, swans, snow geese and eagles. The weather in winter is also pretty unpredictable most light rain and cloudy. About 25,000 snow geese winter there and roost in the Puget Sound at night then feed in the fields during the day. The area is also famous for the large fields of tulips and daffodils in April. It is comparable to Hollands flowers. I have not appreciated how lucky I have been to have access to so much. Bruce |

Jerry, eagles are so difficult to get the proper exposure being dark brown with white as well. You were lucky to get the moon in the same frame with the eagle. I agree with Cindy that there is to much brightening making the colors off. I would also apply some noise reduction. Eagles are always great to see, I am lucky to have many eagles near me. I counted over 100 in just one day on a trip to the nearby Skagit Valley. Bruce |

Steve, Your planning and persistence really paid off for you. How nice of the heron to visit every day. You do not see images from above birds very often so you got nice detail of the wings from a different perspective. You pp looks good, I might darken the green background just a bit to make the bird pop, Bruce |

Sanat, I agree with everything Adrian said very lovely image. I am not sure if it was possible but perhaps a lower perspective would narrow the depth of field to focus more on the birds. I also agree with adrian to crop some of the bottom and perhaps a bit on the right . Bruce |

Cindy, I like your approach to getting low for perspective. It really makes the background look awesome. The depth of field is only a few inches wide keeping the eye focused on the bird. My poor old body does not like to lie down on the ground anymore making the viewfinder a good option, but have not tried that yet. This is an outstanding image that focuses your attention on the bird. Well done. Bruce |
