Ronald, I found the original raw files for this image and the following images in the sequence showing the ball without the white area behind the ball in the original post. There is now halo around the ball which has now dropped down in the image. Bruce |

Thanks Hans, I have been lucky to have access to some great soccer and of course, 30 years of playing and coaching give me an insight into where to focus my attention. Bruce |

Thanks Isaac, I hope you are enjoying your time in Spain. While at the Alligator farm I noticed a man with a PSA badge on so asked him if he was a member. It turned out that he is a friend of yours Erik Rosengren. He was very nice and gave me some hints on the Circle B Bar Ranch. I enjoyed visiting there very much, especially the moss covered oak trees. I had a good time in Florida but was by myself and so was not as nice as having some company and someone else to help with navigation, and other decisions. The weather turned bad the last two days so did leave to come back to Washington two days early. The Alligator Farm produced some nice images as usual. Bruce |

Hey Ronald, Thanks for your observations, the ball in the image was as it appears, I think that the bright light area just behind the ball is the goal post and is creating the impression of the halo. I do have the raw file and checked it just to make sure I did not remember moving it, and it is as shown in the images. Bruce |

Gerry, As the others have said you are the king of surfing images. You have captured a great pose, action, exposure, composition, and a great wave. What more could you want? Bruce |

Hey Kerry, I am in agreement with Hans and Isaac regarding the wider crop and eliminating some of the foreground. The action of the jump really makes the image. Well done. Bruce |

Isaac, Your low perspective really adds to the impact of this image, not easy to do in a pool setting. I agree with Hans about the pose and having a little more space on the sides. The face is sharp and your choice of ISO and 5.6 Fstop provided a good exposure. I have been dreaming of getting to Florida in April or early May, but a serious fall from my icy deck steps fractured two vertebrae and two ribs setting back my plans. Bruce |

Hey Ronald, The detail in the mans muscles adds interest and shows that he is a serious runner. The important parts are in focus not easy when in panning. The crop of the legs is quite close to the knee joint so would suggest including a little more of the leg is possible. |

Hans, a nice action image this month of an interesting event. I like your low perspective with just the face showing above the raging water. The position of the paddle is perfect ,framing the face. The red colors are nice, however the bright red of the kayak may draw attention away from the man. Thanks for sharing this one. It is of more interest to me because I have visited the Hartz mountains (Clausthal-Zellerfeld) many years ago with a girls football team. Our girls lived with families, it was a wonderful experience and the people were fantastic. |

Hey Adrian, I to am in envy of you getting to see these amazing animals and get to photograph them. I prefer the original image because the first image is difficult to pick out the subject of the faces of the adult and chick. I might suggest a little dodging of the eye in the original image. Marie, We have many Pileated woodpeckers here in Washington state. The image is really sharp for such a large crop I might try to bring out some details in the dark area of the tail but otherwise all is great. Bruce |

Maria like your last post, we have a very similar bird (American kestrel) which is a very beautiful bird. It is quite common but still hard to photograph. I love to watch them hover like a helicopter. You did a nice job of opening the shadows, it is sharp and as Isaac said the blue background of the sky makes it pop . Well done. Bruce |

Hey Isaac, you present a really nice nature image of a not often seen subject. Being on it's back adds to the interest. For me the harsh side light and mostly mid tone colors make a lack of contrast so is difficult to see the left side of the walrus. Still a very nice image with lots of interesting details to look at. I worked a bit on the bright areas and dark areas in camera raw to help with contrast, not sure if it helped or not. Bruce |
