Ron, you are correct, this is a night photo. The lights at Quest field are for professional American football and professional soccer so are better than most. You have a keen eye for details, agree with the red banner. Bruce |

Gerry, I like the last version best because it tells a great story of sportsmanship and I also like the interesting straight on view of the guy on the left of the frame. I would have a hard time using any of the images in competitions because of the backgrounds in each one. The dump truck in the main image and original is a killer, the city scape in original 2 and the car in original 3 also kill them for competition for me. Hope I am not being to critical, but try to be honest. Bruce |

Gerald offered some great insight to make your image more powerful. I like what he has done. His crop has also helped with the goal keepers bright color. Bruce |

Kerry, Great capture with peak action. I like the way the horse and rider are lined up in a diagonal across the frame. I agree that especially the right side might be a little tight in the frame but not by much. Your image makes me wonder what is going to be the result of the fall. I love the way you can see the face of the horse and being able to see the face of the rider would make it a really strong image. Your exposure and sharpness is spot on. I am not sure if it is just from the flying dirt, but there looks to be some sensor dust in the top. I like to shoot rodeos as well and you have done a fine job on this one. Bruce |

Sorry about the breakdown of your 6D. I just had to fork out $860 to repair my 800 mm lens that fell from my tripod so can feel your pain. I thought that was the goal keeper in the background. I enjoy viewing your images because they always show action and a story to think about the image. For me that is the most important thing for a sports image. Bruce |

Hey Isaac, lucky you to happen onto this scene. The tall sails grab your attention right away and the way the pontoons are in the air is great. I wonder if a little dehaze applied to the edge of the sails might reduce the haze.

Ron, Wow, 12800 ISO is insane. You are the master of low light. Your shutter speed of 1/640 was enough to make the image reasonably sharp. My only nit is the red legs and arms of the player coming out from the the back of the yellow player in yellow. Bruce |

Hans, you have a really nice image here with many points of interest. You selected well showing the intensity of the coxswain and the power of the rowers. The colored oars and dragon are interesting. Image is sharp and cropped just right. Bruce |

Marie, If you are near ST. Petersburg/Tampa, the best place to see reddish egrets is Ft Desoto State park. It is a very popular place to see and photograph them. Merritt Island NWR is also a good place to see them. It is near Titusville and is a six mile drive where you see all kinds of wading birds. Let me know where you are going to be and I will send you directions to all of the local photography locations. Bruce |

Thanks Barbara, The reddish egrets run around like crazy using their wings to help change direction and shade the water to help see the small fish they are looing for. This egret is actually running all over. The leg position appears to be static, but it is in fact really active. They are one of my favorite birds to photograph and just watch run and change directions. Here is another example of how they move around. Bruce |

I hope you have a quick recovery from your knee replacement. I had my left knee replaced about ten years ago and have had a good result. My wife is trying to put hers off as long as possible. Bruce |

Wow Barbara, that is a nice image for such a major crop. I might suggest moving your crop a little to the left giving the egret a little more room on it's left . |

Hey Isaac, good point regarding no real action from the bird. I had a similar comment regarding a bull moose that I really liked saying that it was just standing there not doing anything. I think I liked it as a portrait image not thinking about interest to others. Bruce |

Adrian, My bad, I read your description but glanced over the fact that the people were entering the frame showing the scale of the image. When I looked on my monitor, I could not even tell that there were people in the image so they were not of interest. I showed the image to my wife and she read the description and spotted the people. They really change the viewers perspective. I will have to pay closer attention next time. Bruce |

Adrian, I like the way the mountains keep your eye in the middle of the image and then the trails on the moving glacier lead you to the end. I also like your black and white conversion. What a great view it must have been to see in person. Just a thought, I cropped some of the foreground out because it takes up so much of the frame without really adding to the image for me. The lines in that part seem to lead my eye out of the image. Of course it is just a thought for you to consider. Bruce |

Mari, You found a beautiful scene and captured it well. It is well exposed, sharp, dramatic sky and a great subject. Tried a 16x19 crop for you to look at. I am not an expert in landscape photography but for my eye, the right side of the image seemed a little dominating so I cropped some of the top of to eliminate some of the heavy right side trees. Just a suggestion, not sure if this helps or hurts. Bruce |

Isaac, I prefer original version you shared, because it shows a more interesting view of the Panda. The other image does not show the eyes which to me kills it. The crop cuts off the ear and back in a way that makes it appear to be a mistake. The mouth and bamboo are interesting and background is blurred out. Sorry to be negative, but not my favorite of your posted images. It may be of more interest to you since you experienced seeing it in person. Bruce |

Hey Judy, I am just visiting from Nature group plus 72. When I saw your image, I thought it was my image from a trip to Ft Desoto in May. You got great light, action sharpness and composition. A wonderful image of a wonderful subject. Bruce Benson |

Hey Peter, just visiting from Nature plus group 72. I was in Cape Coral in May and had a great time photographing at Pelican Park. I am from Washington State and our burrowing owls have disappeared from their nests over the last 5 years. They are one of my favorite subjects and can't believe how they have adapted to living in the city there in Cape Coral. I do wish they would make the perches more natural than the PCV pipe and 1x2 stick. I was able to get some nice images by waiting until they were in the grass to shoot. Nice shot with peak action.
