Gerald, Lots of good points for another great surfing image. Peak action, nice and sharp, nice colors, good crop, cool wave. My only nit is the it would be nice to see a more clear image of the face. Bruce |

Hey Isaac, You have a real winner here. Your low perspective really adds to the impact. Even the sky is great. Will go with Gerald's crop. Bruce |

Hey Hans, Your image is about the coach not the game itself which is interesting. I like the original #1 & 3 because the big gutt on the main image does not convey a good image for a sports coach and they show him actually coaching. Just my first impression. Bruce |

Hey Ronald, Lighting conditions are about as difficult as possible. ISO 25,600 is insane . The front of the van in the corner also distracts from the image. Bruce |

Hey Kerry, My most important rule in a sports image is that it must tell a story, and yours surely does that. I would not like to be tackled by the big guy in the background and the small one does cuts off the angle of escape. Isaac's version is the best for composition for for me and Gerald's adds to the story so either is ok but both are an improvement in my opinion. Either way, great image. Bruce |

Thanks Hans, I love my 400 2.8 lens for great sharpness and limited depth of view. I photograph manly wildlife so this is a great benefit as well. I hope to get to Germany sometime soon and visit my son and his family. Bruce |

Ronald, Thanks for you kind words, I coached soccer for many years, was in charge of the Washington State coaching school, ran my own camps for 32 years and of course watched many games. This helps me to anticipate where the action will happen plus having access to the pitch gives me a great perspective. Bruce |

Isaac, Thanks for your nice comments, I always appreciate your keen eye for details such as the foot to close to the edge of the frame. I have had the luck to have access to the pitch many times including the women's world cup . I have not shot soccer since the pandemic and finally shot my grandsons game the other night. I forgot how difficult shooting soccer is especially under lights. Bruce |

Barbara. A beautiful bird but ugly bench. Everything about the bird is great, but the bench really distracts from it in my view. I am sure it is ok to post man made items on this group, the hand of man rule is from the PSA definition for PSA approved competitions. For me what you do not put into an image is as important as what you put in it. Don't mean to be to critical but hope this makes sense. Bruce |

Mary, I have heard that the rank the snakes in Costa Rica by how long you last before dropping dead. I also like more background but would certainly crop a lot as well. I was able to photograph some vipers on my trip there but not this one. Bruce |

Randy, You captured a great pose with nice action. I have photographed painted buntings in Florida and Texas and am always excited when they appear. The image appears to be quite soft on my monitor but could just be my monitor. I have also had the same problem when inverting the selection tool with subtract. Bruce |

Wow, Isaac, what an interesting image. I have heard of Wakodahatchee and was even going to go there this year but chose not to. I might crop off some of the surrounding vegetation to emphasize the subject. |

Hey Adrian, As Isaac said, lucky you. I had the good luck to photograph the Resplendent Quetzal as well. For me the hard part was getting the whole tail in the frame and the light background. I do not think I could physically manage climbing in the habitat now. I was luck that our guide carried my gear up the steep hill for me. I like your number two image because it shows the beautiful red front of the bird. Bruce |

Marie, Lucky you to get so close to this guy. For me the log and the green leaves in the background really distract from the bird. As Isaac noted the head is a little soft as well. Your shutter speed should have prevented motion blur and the foot and rear of the body are sharp so it may have been moving it's head fast. I used the raw filter to isolate the background then darkened it, then isolated to bird and used Topaz AI on the head. Bruce |

Hey Isaac, Sorry I missed you at the Alligator Farm, what an amazing place to photograph nesting birds in a natural setting even though it is in a zoo setting. I have been there many times and can hardly wait to get back each year. Bruce |
