Thanks Ronald, you brought up some good points I find some of my wildlife/ nature images suffer from judges not familiar with certain animals. White hats of the cowboys are also hard to deal with and the cowboys tend to gather in the range of view to the action. Rodeo is really fun and interesting to photograph and can also provide some great people images, especially children and old people. Bruce |

Ronald, There are to many opportunities for taking images like this. Yesterday being 9-11 there were many memorials here in the USA and many television programs with personal experiences of people who were there. It was pretty had to see scenes of people jumping from the 90th floor and above to their deaths to avoid being burned to death. I think your image would need your explination for anyone to understand what it was about. My dad served two years as a missionary in New Zealand around 1920 and even spoke Maori. Bruce |

Gerry, For me this is the best of the two images, The whites are well exposed and the image is really sharp. Being able to see the face of the surfer makes all the difference in this one compared to Hanging out at the beach. The frames the surfer and keeps attention on him. The texture and color in the water are also nice. Bruce |

Hey Hans, Nice to see you were able to get out and shoot some new action. The two players on the ground are interesting and you can see the faces of all the other players. The rain adds even more interest especially if you have played any sport in that kind of conditions. Considering the light, it is well exposed and sharp. Well done. Bruce |

Isaac, I have been to Brooks Falls, Halo Bay and Kinak Bay to photograph brown bears. Kinak Bay was really bad for seagulls but the others were not. It is a one of the wonders of the world to see the bears there and feel blessed to have had the so many opportunities to go there. I could not afford to go on the boat so always had to camp. I camped for 10 days in Kinak Bay which is where Timothy Tredwell and his girl friend were killed and eaten. Bruce |

Randy, This image was taken at Halo Bay. My last trip was camping for ten days at Kinak Bay which is where Timothy Treadwell and his girlfriend were eaten by a bear. My guide is Kent Frederickson who has guided there for many years. He is a lot cheaper than any other guides I have found and really knows his stuff. He lives in Sweden and spends every summer in Katmai. I meet him many years ago in Homer Alaska photographing eagles. His e-mail address is grizzlycamper@mac.com

Mary, the reason they are called grizzly bears is that their fur looks like this and Isaac is correct that his fur is also wet making it even more so. |

Like Goldilocks said, this one is just right. I really like your images. When I was there in late June from steptoe butte the haze made it impossible to photograph. Bruce |

Wow Mary, I like this one even more. You might try a little selective dehaze filter on the sky to make it even more dramatic. Bruce |

Wow Isaac, what a dynamic image. It really tells a story which to me is the goal of any image. Really well done. Bruce |

Hey Adrian, I have never had the chance to see a gannet and always enjoy seeing images of them. The unusual view is interesting and shows the details of the face really well. Nice clean background draws attention to the bird. On my screen the top of the head and left eye seems to be pretty bright. Nice image, Bruce |

Mary I was in the Palouse in June and found some great Canola fields. It is quite a wonderful place to photograph. I really like the Levels of Canola, tilled soil, canola and clouds. I use high pass sharpening quite often and get good results. Your treatment of the clouds with viveza. Would like to see more of your images from the Palouse. I like In Tacoma, Wa. so it is a days drive to get there. Bruce |

Hey Randy, interesting thoughts on getting the older prime lens. My brother bought an older Canon 600 F4 and it works great. The biggest drawback is that it weighs nearly a ton. He does not get to far from the car so does not have to carry it far. The lens looks to be a sharp copy. Light looks pretty harsh for the image. I like the pose especially the way the feet. Your shutter speed kept the body nice and sharp
with a nice blur in the wings. I might suggest dodging the brights a bit in the eye to bring out the catch light. Will look forward to seeing more images with your new toy. Bruce |
