59 Jul 21 Reply Thanks Ronald, the black spots are ground up bits of rubber used to keep the blades of artificial turf separated. It is not common to see artificial turf in Europe but this Spanish field had it. Bruce Jul 11th
59 Jul 21 Reply Thanks Gerry, My daughter was coaching this team and I was helping to document the games an provide action photos to the girls. From 1983-2012 I took over 1,000 young soccer players around the world to play in international tournaments. I started doing photography in 2002 and this gave me many opportunities for great soccer images. One of the tournaments we competed in many times featured over 1600 teams from 60 nations. My daughter organized this team after I retired from organizing teams. Jul 11th
59 Jul 21 Comment Gerry, really sharp throughout the image. While the leaning of the cycle shows action, I agree with Ronald and Hans about the close crop to provide room for movement. Bruce Jul 5th
59 Jul 21 Comment Hans, Your image shows good action and intensity, with no distractions at all. I do agree with Ronald regarding the backside and would be nice if you could see the face of the player on the left side. Bruce Jul 5th
59 Jul 21 Comment Welcome Ronald It is nice to see a new face in the group. I like the international flavor of this group and the variety of subjects posted. I am glad I do not have to provide milk to these guys of have any of them fall on me after a tackle. Your image shows the intensity of rugby in the faces of the players. To me this is the essence of sports photography. I like Hans' crop since it does not really eliminate anything important. For me the story is more important to the score than technical quality. Well done. Bruce Jul 4th

72 Jul 21 Reply Thanks Marie, The birds are all molting now so are not worth photographing, I traveled 300 miles the other day to photograph bluebirds and they were grey, not blue even though they were feeding their second clutch of chicks. I was in a hurry when I posted this image and am not happy that I did not notice the poor composition, that is my biggest weakness. Bruce Jul 12th
72 Jul 21 Comment Mary, I have also had difficulty composing scenes like this to really show the grand scale of the cliffs and mountain. Your PP made the color pop and I like the way you used the trees as a base. Bruce Jul 10th
72 Jul 21 Comment Hey Walt, really nice image with awesome color to really grab your attention. The blue flower also makes you look closer. I have to go with Isaac on the crop for this one and Adrian about removing the stem. Well done. Bruce Jul 10th
72 Jul 21 Reply Thanks Mary, I love the way my 400 2.8 lens handles the background and is a really sharp lens. Bruce Jul 10th
72 Jul 21 Reply Thanks Walt, I am disgusted with myself that I did not see the weak composition of the original. This is my biggest weakness, ie not seeing details that are obvious. Bruce Jul 10th
72 Jul 21 Reply Thanks Adrian, My kids and wife make fun of me in the backyard with perches and sometimes in a pop up blind. to bad the birds are molting now and are not very photogenic. Bruce Jul 10th
72 Jul 21 Reply Isaac, good observations and improves the image a lot. After I posted the image I noticed that it was quite centered as well and your eliminates that. Hilite in the eye also helps, Thanks for your input. Bruce Jul 4th
72 Jul 21 Comment Isaac, I like your image because it tells a story about the struggle to survive and find food. Not much left on the carcass. Nature photography to means to tell a story about the subjects and your image certainly does that. Well done. Bruce Jul 3rd
72 Jul 21 Comment Adrian, there is nothing more ugly and more cute at the same time than a coot chick. I do not care for the rotation to make the mom come from the corner because the ripples look like they are tilted. It is sharp with good exposure. I might suggest a little dodging to bring out the eye on the mom. Bruce Jul 3rd
72 Jul 21 Comment Mari, Really cool image, the goslings are sharp and the full reflection is great. I like the vignette and would like to see it a little less dark just to see what it would look like. Well done. Bruce Jul 3rd
