Gerald, Wow what a dramatic image. The nose showing through is the icing on the cake. I always look to tell a story in my images and this on really fills the bill. This one certainly should be accepted in competitions. Bruce |

Thanks Dan, You are right about the lens. I also shoot wildlife so sharpness is essential. Looking forward to a normal world so we can get out more.

Hans, sorry to hear about the restrictions in Germany, it is much the same here in the USA. I would really like to come visit my son in Frankfurt since I have not seen him for several years.. I pretty much agree with Dan's comments. The look on the defenders face make this image. Bruce |

Thanks everyone for the comments. I am not the best at spotting the fine points of images so always look forward to hearing your ideas. For Isaac, the DOF for my 400 2.8 lens is very shallow at this distance so will check out the shadows to see if that increases the details... Randy, I have been going to Children's beach for many years in February and have experienced the disputes from the conservationists, beach goers, tourists etc. and have smelled the odor of the seals first hand. I took this image when the beach was open but stayed next to the stairs to avoid disturbing the pupping seals. I actually photographed a seal pup being born there. A few hours later there were people with in inches of the newborn seal and mom even touching it. They were just as bad down the beach a bit going right up the the sea lions in high heels and trying to pet the huge animals. This is also a great location to photograph pelicans and cormorants. Walt, will try to darken the background. Bruce |

Isaac, Eagles are always a great subject however very difficult to expose with the dark body and white head. You did a good job to get the exposure correct. The perch is very nice. The left eye is in shadow and I might use a little dodging to brighten it. Sorry about all the problems getting you my images. Not really sure what the problem is. Bruce |

Adrian, my dad had a summer home 25 miles from West Yellowstone so spent many hours around there. I wish now that I would have appreciated it more. I even drove a produce truck all the way from Idaho Falls through the Park delivering produce to all the park lodges three days a week. The bears were just a delay for me. I love the pose of the cub especially the white of the eye. My only nit on this one is the two large rocks which are distracting to me. Bruce |

Hi Walt, another great image as to be expected from you. I like the glow filter effect and the dramatic sky in this one. I would like to see a little more room on the left side even though the boat is static. Bruce |

Hi Mary, Your post processing is just right making the squirrel really stand out. The pose is great especially with the front paw lifted. The two yellow leaves are quite bright and might benefit from slight burning to tone them down. Well done, Bruce |

Hi Randy, I love the pose of this beauty with the wings spread and tilted to expose the feather detail. The lighting looks quite harsh and background is busy but still is a really nice image. PS. Is this owl near Back Bay Marina in the fishing bridge area? Two years ago I was lucky enough to find a great grey perched on a buoy on Yellowstone lake at the Back Bay Marina. Together with about 20 other photographers I was able to follow it as it hunted for about one mile when it crossed the main road and caught the attention of all the buses and road traffic so hundreds of people flooded the meadow it was trying to in.
