Brenda, Nice to see another soccer person in the group. There is nothing like watching and photographing your kids play. She looks like she has good techniques. Your I like your image. A couple of suggestions for you, first not sure if you use Photoshop or Lightroom, but the corner flag in the background is really bright so draws your eye away from your subject. You can use the burn tool to darken it or if you are not trying to enter into a competion you can also remove it with the clone tool. Second try to get images that show duels between opponents like tackles, headers etc. Third, most sports photographers try to shoot from a low position making the players look larger and more dramatic in the frame. Fourth, I love the 70-200 2.8 lens for soccer. Again most sports photographers use the widest open aperture of 2.8 to blur out distractions in the background and also to help get a fast shutter speed. I played and coached soccer for 35 years, ran my own camps and took more than 1000 young players around the world to play in tournaments. All this helps me to anticipate where to be ready for a good action image. I was lucky enough to photograph the Womens World Cup for a Swedish soccer magazine . Sorry, had to brag a little bit. I started doing photography as you are photographing my grandkids and then began making soccer posters of them playing.. |

Gerald I also like the angle from above, it seems to add intensity to their faces. The two players not involved in the play seem distracting to me as well as the bright yellow floor in the background. Does not seem to be any way to crop them out. Bruce |

Karl, the pose of the rider makes this image for me. You did well with the slow shutter speed and panning. Bruce |

Joseph, nice action image and interesting rope around the body of the calf instead of the neck. Distracting background at rodeos is unavoidable. You got good sharpness with 1/640 second. The dirt flying up around the horse adds interest. Bruce |

Isaac, What an interesting image. Not sure it fits into the nature category. I really like the hat, the faces of the dog and the monkey. The second original image is also really interesting showing what is going on with the sheep. Bruce |

Adrian, I have many images of Giraffes in Uganda and Kenya, but have never been able to see them at a water source. You got great light and I like your crop not using much of the dull sky. The larger one is a little close to the edge of the image for me and I used a little different view of the horizon. Not sure if it works but used the waters edge as the level. Bruce |

Marie, I really like the way the goldfinch is standing on the patch of moss. I agree that the dark areas are a little much and would go with Isaac on the crop Your exposure is spot on for the bird. Bruce |

Walt, nice image as usual. I think I like the crop Isaac did but the center is ok for me as well. Certainly a creative image worthy of award. Bruce |

Mary, I agree with the others, many good elements in this one. The bushes and rocks in the foreground make a nice base. The mountains frame the lake and keep your eye in the image. Well done. Bruce |

Abhjeet, You captured an interesting pose with this one. The Center position of the birds does not bother me since both or looking in opposite positions. I like the treatment Walt made helping with the softness. You could even crop as a square and eliminate the reflection since the white water is a little distracting to my eye. Overall nice image with a good story. Bruce |
