Gerald, I like the original one better as well. The face is still obstructed some but not as much. I like that it shows more of the wave and the board is clearer. In my humble opinion, that one would be more likely to be accepted. Bruce |

Brenda, I like Gerald's crop and agree with his comments. Most sports photographers I know suggest a very tight crop to emphasize the subjects and action. I find it difficult to please girls sports photos because they are so aware of their appearance. The Canon 7D paired with the 100-400 lens is a great combination for sports if the light is good and your choice of F5 is the best to help blur the background. One suggestion is to be very aware of what is in the background where you are shooting from, such as porta potties, cars, garbage cans and spectators. They can ruin a really good shot if you are not careful. Bruce |

Phil, You caught the peak action here and everything is technically good. Hockey is a difficult sport to shoot because the puck is often had to see. Brenda's comment mentioned that she had to guess to see where the puck landed. As with rodeo it is also difficult to not have a distracting background. I tried a crop that cut out most of the advertising on the wall but not sure that it works any better though. |

Joseph, everything is nice and sharp and I like the crop which eliminates much of the distraction background. There is not much you can do to blur the spectators since you already were at F 4. Nice image showing the action of the event. Bruce |

Karl, It is interesting that before I saw Geralds version, cropping you image, I did a similar crop for the same reasons Gerald mentioned. I love the looks and the green players faces, and the crop really emphasizes them. Bruce

Just normal play in Denmark, not foul or card given. Thanks for looking. Bruce |

Isaac, Good idea to flip this one. I like the detail that the closer crop shows. Not sure if you could dodge the dark area on the head which is blocked out. Bruce |

Adrian, Nice job of lightening the darker side of the image. The winter scene is quite different than the unfrozen versions. I like the color version better. I am planning to go to Yellowstone in the next few weeks, but will only be between Mammoth and Cook city. Bruce |

Marie, I agree with Isaac regarding the color, particularly the pink moon seems abnormal. Not sure if you have any more room on the right, but I might try having a little more room for the ends of the branches. Nice image overall. Bruce |

Walt, I agree with Isaac, about liking the color version better. For me the stairs really make the image. The trees on the right and left form a nice frame of Rainier. Bruce |

Abhigeet, Not your every day photo, I agree this must be a once in a lifetime opportunity. I agree that removing the grass would improve the image, I might also crop off a bit from the right side and bottom of the image, since they do not add much to it. Bruce |
