good points Joseph, I like your crop, it includes all the important things. Normally I would not like to have the subjects so close to the edge of the frame, but think it works well on this one. Thanks for your input. The Roy rodeo is taking place again on this Saturday and Sunday so hopefully will get some good images there. Bruce |

Gerald, Thanks for your feedback. I agree with your thoughts about distracting background, After looking at your crop, It does eliminate some of the distractions, however to my eye the horse is an important part of the images and removing it takes away from the impact. I appreciate your thoughts. Bruce |

Stephen, thanks for your comments, I would consider removing the two guys you mentioned but am not sure how much is allowed for a PJ entry. The rider on the left of the image trys to keep the steer from moving away and the other cowboys trys to get the steer on it's back and tie it's legs up. He is successful on this attempt and gets his foot out of the stirrup. It is not possible to pre-focus on this event because you do not know when the rider will leave the horse. I used AI Servo to track the rider. I took a sequence of six images to get this one. Bruce |

Joseph, good job with the indoor lighting, it is always tough. The focus of the rear player on the ball is great. the writing on the white background is a bit distracting, overall I like it. Bruce |

Gerald, wow, great image. This one should do well in PJ. I might like to see a little more of the background just because it is so interesting. Bruce |

Karnl, Very nice image , very good job of panning with car being really sharp. I like what you did with the B&W conversion. Good composition adds to this one. Well done. Bruce |

Bob, I love the capture of the action ie the horses and riders, especially with all legs in the air. The background really distracts from this one for me. The pink lady on the left, the guy in the white shirt sitting in the lawn chair, and the people with the balloons plus all of the white chairs in the background. The ball would be a nice addition as well. Perhaps you could burn those elements from the background because the subjects are so good. I have the same problem at the rodeo with all the white hats of the cowboys. Bruce |

Kent, Nice crop, and PP. I like the catch light in the eye. I Used the dehaze filter in PS to darken the background a bit and make the bird pop a little. Bruce |

Isaac, this one one about 30 yards away, the eagles do not eat the oysters but find fish that get stuck in the oysters during low tide or steal them from the herons who also gather to catch the fish which are coming to spawn in a near by creek. This action requires a low tide to strand the fish . It can be quite spectacular. Bonnie Block, a local photographer won the grand prize $5,000 for the audubon photo contest last year with an image of an eagle stealing a fish from a heron at this location. Bruce

Mary, nice image with lots of interesting things to examine. I Used the dehaze filter in camera raw and added a vignette so see what it would do. Bruce |

Tony,I see that you used F/11 which also made the fence more visible. The smallest f stop you can use will make the fence less visible. Also the closer you can get to the fence will make is more invisible. The image is underexposed at least 1-2 stops and a smaller f stop would also help there as well as allowing a smaller ISO. Keep shooting and you will soon learn by trial an error . The zoo is a great place to get practice. Bruce |

Issac, I also like the flipping of this image. The bright leaves on the edges seemed a bit distracting so I burned them just a bit. |
