Your journey from original to final is fascinating and challenging in an educational way. I think that having darkened the sky that much, the bright lighting of the scene throughout becomes less believable, making the case for some partial but carefully placed exposure reduction with a circular feathered brush (rocks etc.). |

Welcome!! Definitely impactful on my first viewing, but like Karen some questions start coming up like is this for real? Or why not bring out some detail from the shadows. The diagonal line is effective but I think you could do with more space at the top and on the right. Your use of the gel is interesting and effective. |

Our group goes there every year, but this is an outstanding image competing with or outdoing most. Your settings and work in post is just right for the image I think. On first looking at it the lines and directionality are working perfectly including the slight diagonal of the log, so would not consider taking it out, but nice work Karen. You might try a horizontal flip on Karen's edit and possibly the original. |

I think this is a unique perspective of the Great Blue Heron contributed by effective use of negative space. The lines on the bird lead up nicely to the beak which points into the distant blue expanse. Although at the one third line, you could even add more space I think - but the traditionalists might think not. |

Great capture and work in post Jim. I am intrigued by your novel use of the dehaze slider. I am surprised that you went for such a high percent possibly knowing its sensitivity. |
