I was trespassing but with permission I think. I was quite close and don't have a macro lens. Piers |

The B&W has a good tonal range. The strong lines in the central parts of the image dominate, so would crop in from the sides. Also the B&W seems to accentuate unwanted detail which would be a long removal job, but could be worth it. Your supporting shot is superior and agree with Martin. |

The green color on the bridge makes the picture and the red bar at the back of the boat contrasts well. The modern skyline contrasts well with the old. I and a photographer friend think that there should be a slight clockwise correction? Also the sky is too bright on the color one bit not on the B&W. The B&W comes across as being too flat and needs some differential toning perhaps to bring out more pop. |

It reminds me of parts of Southern Africa - especially the Karoo, a semidesert area. I agree with Shirley and Jacqueline and find the foreground to be a bit diffuse and complex with relatively too much light. The large rock on the right is interesting and I think could be enhanced by cropping up from below so that the eye begins at the rock, then follows the line of rocks to the bright mountain on the left and then zigs to the right along the base of the mountains. |

Double congratulations - a really great image! It's rare to see depth and feeling, seemingly enhanced by the subtle effect of the reflection on the table. The pearls are almost parallel to the flower line so the arrangement doesn't bother me. |

Thanks for sharing both images - very inspiring! Now it seems your submitted image could be good in black and white? But as Shirley suggested cropped in from the sides and possibly with the white rings cloned out. |

Thanks - I have sharpening options but will probably leave as is with the new contrast change. |

Thanks. I agree the background should contrast in brightness. The flowerbed was densely packed with other irises so not much choice unless the flower is cut. Then there would be some options. |
