I would like to propose a version somewhat consistent with Martin's first suggestion; that is to slightly desaturate and put a motion blur on a mask for the background. I tried this on the JPEG but some anomalous blurs occur requiring cloning. However, the effect is to focus more on the rider-horse relationship. Also this move allows for relative exposure changes to background vs subject, adding space to the top and spot removal from the horse's sweat etc.
On working close-up the jockey now appears to be a woman.
Disclosure: My father was a judge on a racecourse, so I was often in on events etc, but I'm not sure if the horses are always treated well! |

I agree to leave the horse, but just more space at the top (attached). I notice that some of the foreground was cropped from the original to achieve this, and it is a very good image as is. |

Yes and the lens was the RF 100-400 at 400. I also use it with a 1.4 extender. I have an EF 100-400L and use it with a 2.0 extender and adapter but it's too heavy to carry around. |

I like the space in front of the horse - it adds to the impression of speed. Perhaps adding just a little space to the top of the photo with content aware might help. |

Immediately striking because of the catch-light in the eyes, then an immediate conclusion that here is a great musician, because of the background. The original is also impressive but has a different aspect of the "story", and I wondered if you had addressed that in a separate image - perhaps by isolating him with the guitar? |

I like your use of negative space. I have a tendency to crop but leaving space while the subject is placed on a 1/3 junction looks good. The lighting of the foliage leads the eye to the left, and the direction they are heading. Great image! |

The horse is flying with all four feet off the ground and the eye is especially sharp. I think it might be better if the eye was on the 1/3rd line? |

Nice night image. Interesting how 14mm gives an inclusive effect by curving the palm tree on the left. The striking red and blue gives seem to add drama somehow. |

Thanks. I'll confess that I used the animal eye-focus on the R5!
I used content aware and cloning to add some water with some exposure lowering for shadow. |

Thanks, I have worked on the dead branch/water point of entry to the water and added more water with content aware plus cloning,
and darkened for the shadow on the water.

Thanks for comment and great description of their feeding style. As you probably know, they are sadly in jeopardy when they fly up to Canada, where the officials have decided to cull in order to protect the fishing industry. |
