Thanks Shirley and Martin. I agree with Martin. I think the resolution was insufficient for Topaz Denoise AI to render a realistic image resulting in the painterly effect.
Also thanks Karen for the lead to the banding origin - I have had an interesting reply from the San Francisco Audubon, but they are not sure yet. |

Fascinating image and story. Yes - I agree with the flip. Did you try it in black and white? |

You have a great image to begin with, so it remains strong. I have found water lilies to be challenging because it is difficult to show where the water level is and what parts are submerged - this is clear in the original but gets lost in your processing giving it an abstract but still pleasant effect. The water-drops on the original are an asset which is somewhat lost in the post. |

Great image. You have a compounding effect of strong compositional elements. The line of the bridge leads to the mountains in the distance, so I would crop in an inch or so from the right so the eye can begin closer to the leading line of the train track. The bridge appears to be going slightly up hill from left to right - so wondered if you used the leveling tool in the crop. |

Wonderful image with humor to add! I would crop down to just above the roof triangle because the brightness at the top is not helping. More space in front of the men would help for directional movement, but since they are not apparently moving it is good as is. |

Wow! The image has an immediate dramatic effect of the train coming at you, but the compositional balance appears a bit top heavy so I would crop a bit more from below but leaving all of the rails for direction. The brown smoke appears unconnected to the train and could be joined to the chimney by adding smoke to the white sky over the engine. The tree-top on the left could do with more leaf cloning. |

Yes, I agree the filter worked to pop the image - and agree that strong lines are a slight problem on the left. The figures are significant and could possibly be brought out slightly with a brush for de-shadowing. |

Karen, thanks for the comments on composition. I can send you the jpeg to forward to your friend. My e-mail is piersblackett@att.net The image is cropped so there is resolution loss making it difficult to see detail on the copper band - the blue band has ZK or ZR and IV or IY - but given the date of the sighting (10/19) there might be enough for ID. |
