2 Jun 21 Comment The concept of a double frame within a frame is slightly incomplete. I wonder if you got a shot showing the threshold and floor of the first doorway? Still a great shot anyway though. Jun 22nd
2 Jun 21 Reply Thanks for your advice and comments. Piers Jun 22nd
2 Jun 21 Reply On further thoughts, I think the compositional flaws of the panorama are distracting as you point out. I have revised the image by taking out the distracting leading line "to nowhere" and have balanced the dam house with the sun so that there is less intervening space. Jun 21st
2 Jun 21 Reply Thanks Martin, but here is my counter. Three images were stitched, so from your perspective it is debatable whether a panorama has anything more to offer than the first of the three shown as the original. However, I think it has informative value on the layout of the dam without compositional strengths such as leading lines, which don't seem to be present in most panoramas because of their longer horizontal aspect. 2 Jun 21 Comment Thanks Tom, that's encouraging. Best wishes, Piers Jun 14th
2 Jun 21 Comment Thanks, I had not really thought of it like that. Jun 8th
2 Jun 21 Reply Obviously you would know your way around the image better that I would, however I have tested the concept of using masks on your double image (jpeg) to achieve a desired effect. My steps were to create a background layer and to reduce exposure using the camera raw filter, then to use an adjustment layer for brightness/contrast to bring it to the the level you want, then with the second layer of the original I used a brush alternating between black to reveal and white to conceal the background layer. Then I used the crop tool with content aware to to add space at the top. There was a slight problem with the splash over the stones being too dark so used a very small white brush over the mask. 2 Jun 21 Comment The editing has brought out some great leading lines in the clouds on the left adding to the effect of the road. Thanks for the history lesson. I think the central mountains are too bright for such an overcast sky and perhaps would be better if there were just patches of brightness. Jun 6th
2 Jun 21 Comment Nice image full of expression, and contrast in the story. Also the lighting and capture is impressive I agree with Shirley about it being tight at the top - so adding an inch or so with content aware might work. Since the gravestones are part of the story they don't show well and take a few seconds to recognize what they represent - so I would selectively darken and clarify them slightly. Jun 6th
2 Jun 21 Comment Nice composition. I like the negative space on the right and how it contrasts with the stems on the left. The combination of the triple flower, stamens and drops makes it a strong image. Good luck. Jun 6th
2 Jun 21 Comment This is a beautiful image as well as being interesting. It is a masterful capture of the shades of white, and would also possibly do well in black and white. Jun 6th
2 Jun 21 Comment I think you present an effective and creative way of portraying the pink dogwood on gray and would not change it. I would add some negative space at the top. Jun 6th
2 Jun 21 Comment Congrats on the competition. Again you have a great image. It seems to me what makes it is framing the ocean sunset with matching architectural structures of the restaurant. The sculpture above the second door could possibly be shown in more detail by use of a brush for shadows and clarity in CR ? Jun 6th
2 Jun 21 Reply Thanks, I agree. I went -1.5 on the exposure for the water with a feathered brush in camera raw. Jun 6th
2 Jun 21 Reply Thanks, I have been looking into panoramas and have the equipment but this one was handheld and stitched surprisingly well in Photoshop. Jun 6th
