Thanks for your comments. In retrospect what was most striking to me was the time frame of only a minute or so between when the lighting was optimal and then gone. At that point the subject of the photo switched from the sunset to the dam when the lights were turned on as pointed out by Martin. |

Thanks for your comments and edits. Since I see the bridge, actually a dam wall, several times a year it did not really have a priority, but I thought a man-made structure had an interesting combined effect with the sunset. However, seeing how you have brought out the "bridge" I like your point of view. |

Yes, it leads the eye from left to right where the engine is - so I think more impressive. |

Yes! I have looked at your image again, and think that the light is coming from the right of and slightly behind the truck leaving too much shade in the left third. I would correct it partially with a gradient tool or a brush, then I would try a horizontal flip? |

I agree with Jaqueline's comments about your adjustment. Another way might be to add a vignette with low opacity on the original or on the modified image. |

The image gives a sense of place and good impression of what the mill is like - amazing how much texture and detail comes out. Subtle effects include reflection, a leading line on the right, a frame within a frame and contrasting foliage all cumulatively adding to the image, but agree the foreground flowers are quite strong. |

I think you have achieved some success and I think the slippers on gold looks good. There are photoshop tutorials on the technique that Shirley mentions but modifying the existing image by masking in some gold in the background on enlarged views seems to be what you did, also the "refine edge" tool is good. |

Both the original and selected image have a strong impact and I like both. The rocky background gives a strong message but the smooth gray background is more serene giving the flower a different look. Fascinating differences between the images. |

Great composition and modification of the rusty reds. There is a greenish tinge on the van but I would take some brightness and green out of the sky so as to draw more attention to the van. |

Thanks - great suggestion. I have also cropped in from the right to contribute to the same effect - also that puts the lake edge at the one third line! |
