2 Dec 19 Reply Thanks for your advice. I will explore DXO some more. The color reveal image was a Lightroom B&W preset. Piers Dec 16th
2 Dec 19 Reply Great suggestion. I used a black and white layer in Photoshop on the original image as background, and a mask with a brush to reveal the red lighthouse and figure. Our club also likes this strategy but there is some opposition from purists. Piers Dec 14th
2 Dec 19 Comment I'm finding that it finds feathers close to cloud texture even within the bird's body and wings, but when it works its very nice. But I doubt if it will ever be allowed for Nature in PSA or club competition though. Dec 14th
2 Dec 19 Comment Spectacular editing. It now looks like a wizened eagle in the wild....and after suffering some hardship! I have also just got Luminar 4 and find the AI sky replacement exciting for artistic presentation. I also found that in some cases it merges sky into the bird's fathers but in your case it has given the eagle's head-feathers a ruffled appearance adding to character. Also the sky below the perch has not been replaced, so it might benefit from cloning. I find Slylum's sky choices don't blend well, but they give the option to use your own, so generally you might prefer using your own sky images. Dec 10th
2 Dec 19 Comment Hung; this is impressive....I can hear the music. Again I am impressed with your use of negative space...it gives space for the music sounds to flow through the picture leading upwards from the trumpet. Those smoky waves on the floor accentuate this effect moving the flow from low left to high right so I would only crop slightly as Shirley suggests. I think the face could be darkened slightly since it is caught by the spotlight. Dec 10th
2 Dec 19 Comment Very nice image. I collect bark images on walks, but this is the best I have seen, and creatively presented with the decorative lights. The saturation bump hit it right on. Dec 10th
2 Dec 19 Comment Nice rendition of the subject. It looks like you were close enough to call it macro. That brings to mind the limitation in DOF as you get closer and wonder if you had tried increasing it to bring out the texture in the wood; but I think your selective focusing is effective. Possibly the shiny parts of the wood could be darkened to bring-out the main foreground parts of the image. Dec 10th
