Nice picture. I think the strengths are the composition and colors consisting of pastille-toned blues, yellows and grays, and a few reds, with leading lines taking you to the two people walking by. The first palm leaves form a canopy over the two people so I would crop just above it to increase the lead to the couple. There is a distracting patch of light to the left of the man's feet which could be darkened with a brush. |

The photo has an interesting story-line and you have effectively used selective focusing with a narrow depth of field focusing for a few of the thorns and the anterior of the nest, and leaving a nice bokeh for the background. I would try selectively darkening the nest to bring it out or contrast it slightly more compared to the background. |

I like the water ripples and 1/8th seems to have been exactly the right shutter-speed to bring them out. I agree about the crop comments and think they will serve to bring out the smooth water and ripples plus effective overall composition. |

Thanks for a great lesson in use of selective focusing and light, which seems to be coming from the right but from the front adding to the glow of the yellow petals. I think it conveys a feeling of a field or bed of high quality yellow tulips with some just budding. |

Wide-eyed maternal dependence at its best! I like the diagonal from the ear going down the top of the right arm. The image is balanced for dark and light accentuating direction towards the mother and source of love and nutrition. Great story and composition. The flash might have been on the camera, but resulting lighting looks OK. You could selectively darken some of the bright spots on the periphery of the eye to make the catch-lights look better. |

It was flat country near the Severn estuary - but not as close as Wales to Ireland. Had just been birding so had a 55-250 lens on. A wide angle might have done better but I could not get closer without trespassing. |
