Thanks. I have recently learnt that ancient Japanese artists preferred right to left flow to depict struggles against life's storms shown as tsunami-type waves. Piers |

Yes, I think so, but not quite as much leaving some foliage to balance the double background trunks on the right plus add contrast like this? Piers |

The foreground bench is central to the composition and the leading lines in the snow help to lead the eye to the mountain and isolated cloud. I would not crop because the negative space and lines in the snow help the image. |

Great image with almost a bokeh effect on the background - an interesting choice of f-stop to selectively focus the palm. I wonder if you considered adjusting the color sats towards less yellow and more magenta. |

The foreground tree with its visible root system is the focus of interest made more interesting by your background narrative, but I think one has to decide what the main message is. So I would bring out the foreground tree by cropping tighter from the left up to the first vertical trunk, so that the diagonal tree trunk is more effective. This will help to bring the eye onto the in focus trunk and roots |

The colors and balanced composition are impressive and I think perfect. I might tone down the red slightly to matched with the more muted tones of the other colors. |

I like the black and white best. I think the flowers in the central foreground are good in color but becomes slightly too bright in B+W when compared to the barn. |

Great dramatic effect in black and white - I agree that it evokes feeling and emotion and I think more effectively than the original, but a with different message. |

Thanks for the comments. The second column in the middle of the first section belongs to another adjacent bridge for the highway, so I have cloned it out, leaving the first pillar with more canvas as Shirley suggested. Then I emphasized the second pillar at the end of the first section for balance. I favor the flipped image for conventional right to left flow. Piers |
