oooh, soft blend layer...hum. I never get it to look right as I go waaaay overboard but I might need to use the soft blending layer and hey, yes let's do only 50%. I'll try that. Great suggestion! |

The colors are appealing and warm.
My first thought was to crop this into a portrait. My eye had trouble focusing on the great action in the middle. If symmetry is the goal, then the amount of left hand sunlight reflection is unbalancing to me.
This looks like a place I want to go once life gets back to traveling again. Thanks for taking me someplace outside of my house. |

Love this bridge. It looks like there might have been some evergreen trees. Did they add a bit of green color? Wonder what selective color of green might do to this photo. Or wonder what a bleached bypass would do on top of the sienna?
Like the contrast of lines between curves and straight. It's a capture of a path I'd love to explore.

Oh, my gosh! Look at those water droplets caught mid air. Fast shutter speed also capturing swan action.
The light in the upper right hand corner and along the top is distracting to me. I'd take that out but that's just me.
Great action capture. |

Oh, It's that time of year! We made it! Yeah!
The background is good at accentuating the buds.
As far as post processing, this group has been educated in removing items along the border that might be distracting. with that knowledge, I might edit out the buds along the bottom. With those lower buds out, not sure if the right twig adds anything.
I like the diagonal line from lower left to upper right.
Thanks for sharing a bit of spring with us. |

I like the positioning of the bird in the frame with its facing from left to right. Great job post processing.
I wonder if you could "burn" his eye and head area, a skill out of my league.
The removal of the distracting elements enhanced the photo greatly. |

Totally agree on the softer transitions between images...I ran out of time and wasn't able to get back to it. It took all month to find the photos rummaging through 8 barrels of family archive documents, selecting, deciding on a theme and then trying to balance the arrangement. It does need to be soften. Thanks for the insight and info of color correction. I suspect this will go on for a year or so until all the "barrels" are digitized. I don't have PS but have found SmartPhotoEditor a workable program. It has an auto tone (tries to fix color cast) and auto levels. It also has sliders for multiple colors to adjust vibrance, brightness, contrast and hue. And then there is gamma...gamma? What's that do?
I have not explored the training videos offered by PsA but would hope to find one that might educate me in these sliders.
And yup, young me. What a giggle. |
