I LOVE YOU!!!!! Thanks for your perperspective as always! I can NOT tell you how bummed I was to hear this speaker. It seemed that all his suggestions resulted in images that looked either studio staged or converted into a graphic design. I was so bummed and vowed never to enter any competition.
Thank you for the voice of reason. I really do love you. |

Oh, no! Destroyed by the bush fire! Oh, what a shame. Glad you were able to save a bit of it. Interesting that a cell phone could throw that much light.
Nice job with the light paining. I'm always curious about how much light is used in light painting. Like are the trees lit by the torch or are they lit by the cell phone inside the cabin?
Will again refer to a recent lecture I heard. Not knowing who Kylies is, I might have given a little bit more info in the title. Like Kylie's midnight penning or burning the midnight old to reach publisher's deadline...well, something like that which might have given me an idea an author resided within.
Passing on ideas that may or may not be relevant. |

This is stellar. One of the areas discussed by a recent speaker on judging photos was the detail in whites and blacks. I think this is an excellent example of getting those details in the white areas and all areas of the photograph.
One area he suggested was to add a border to the photo and to have an "eye catching" (ha ha) title. Not sure how I feel about these but just passing them on. |

Oh, Jon, I'm so confused about the degree of saturation to use. I love the pop of red here. I just heard a judge talk about photos being over saturated. I like it but just wondered if you had feedback from other judges/contests.
He would have agreed with Renee about the sky detail. |

OOOoo, nice intensity and motion captured. Love the splashes captured at high speed.
I kinda like the triangle formed by the paddle, pole and racer. Seems like it keeps the intensity in the center frame. Just me.
Fun capture. Looks like it might have been a chilly day which makes this snap even better given cold fingers. |

Ok, these comments are based on a recent PPI speaker on how photos MIGHT be judged so take with a grain of salt.
This might be judged as a little over saturated. I know, I know, that's how it looked but the judge might think otherwise.
The bench at the top of the photo and the fence could be removed.
Think he said the sky should have some detail and not look blown out even though it might have looked like this.
Also, he said the edges should be "finished" like in having a border. Will need to hear what others say about these "suggestions" as I'm still trying to grapple with them myself.
I love the color and the detail in the mill and the limbs of the walkway. I think this is a pretty photo. |

OOooh, nice catch. I didn't even notice them. Yup-o, got to go-o.
Not sure how to blur the other trees--layer perhaps? They really are in line with the two trees along the bank but could blur them. I thought about removing them but thought I'd wait to see what others thought. Thanks. |

Oh! Oh! Oh! Love this. I got one for Christmas and can't wait to try it! What a great idea to put it on a tripod! I was wondering how this works. Now, what suction cup device and where did you get it?
I'm stuck in rehab so I can't play right now. Looking forward to it. I'm curious what others will say.
What fun, great weather and skill!
