Why...it's a Cuban cigar sticking out of his mouth and up towards his nose. What else? Cuba? Cuban cigar! Truly not the best angle for the cigar.
(Yeah if I straighten it, I lose their feet. Well, I SUPPOSE I could do a layers thingy.) |

My first impression was about what was the subject. Is it the the right foreground path with striking color or the Ayres Rock was the focus of this image? I'm kinda stuck in the lower right corner. I might flip it so the path is in the lower left and then my eye goes to the rock. (Learned that flipping action from Jon.) think that might lead my eye to the clouds on the upper right.
I do like the elongated crop. N |

Removed cars? Check. Winding road out to the fence? Check. Perfect Topaz enhancing the mist? Check. Tree limb stretching elegant limbs diagonally across image from bottom to right top? Check.
Hum, I agree with Jon that the top left mist is a little to dark for me. Wonder if you can selectively brush the Topaz color down a bit on them.
Great mood image. |

Great tonal adjustments and sharpening. I'n not as distracted by the grill as I am the shining coffee pot to the left of him and that shinny thing (lid?) on the bottom left.
Crop? Dodge or burn? (I get them confused but the one that darkens) What about cropping so his eyes are at the upper left third?
Fabulous connection with your subject and it shows. I enjoy seeing the background menu and price in pounds. Great contextual background. Once again, very nice photo share. |

Oh, wow. Once again, I love your landscape images. Having tried to get a decent shot of the canyon myself, I know this is not easy. The feel of the clouds parting to let the sunlight fall into the canyon is a great catch. The circular line of the canyon to the rainbow to the cloud and then to blue of the sky has me examining all over this photo.
The overall moodiness of this photo with the hope and blue skies that follow a storm is excellent.
Hum, what I might do differently? Maybe crop 16x9 with the horizon lower third? On the other hand, I like the rock outcrop to the lower left. Never mind. |

I like the black and white better. I do think that you might want to play with the color tabs to bring out more detail in the stonework. It seems "flat" to me.
I might like to see a b&W without correcting for steeples. Sometimes I like it corrected and sometimes not. This is a majestic building reaching into the sky. The feeling of largeness might impact the viewer...or not.
The clouds seem to distract and pull me down. I agree with Danny that you might want to dim them down.
Overall, a powerful image in black and white. |

Thank you. I like your title better than mine. |

Oh, Jon, I love you. I was lucky to swing the camera in that direction. You are absolutely correct and I wish I could have gotten that shot. I keep forgetting to do serial shots. I'll work on it. Thank you for your honest critic. I appreciate it. |

What about changing the title to "How much did he give us?" Would that give a reference to the guy? Sometimes it's all in the title. |

I could crop it better to get rid of the excess on both right and left sides. Might be a tighter story.

I really didn't increase the saturation all that much. I increased the clarity. One of the notable aspects of Trinidad, Cuba is the intensely colored painted houses.
No, I don't want to crop out the gentleman. The story is about the gentleman's contribution to the beggars, and their discussion about the CUCs given. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. |
