Tried everything I could to pull out foreground. Nope. It was just a lumpy sand dune and not even a texture. Used new Luminar 3 develop mode and multiple presets to get this. Did crop to 16x10. Couldn't find original on my phone to try Snapseed, ToolWiz Photos |

Thank you! I was there during both the sun rise and set. Totally disappointed but I understand now. Thank you. |

So the difference is that a letter box has unequal large margins and may act as a mat while a key line has small equal margins acing as outline. |

Oh, fussy, fussy. You are absolutely correct. It IS blurred. It was a snapshot on my cell phone. Not meant as great photography but of a cool blue sky rainbow. Yes, I SHOULD have used my tripod. Yes, I SHOULD have used my real camera. But I wasn't sure how well my tripod would do in the sand dune.
BTW: Is a key line the same as a letter box? Asking for a friend. |

I like the triad of flowers and the DOF. Beautiful stamens captured especially the y ones. If the flowers were the subject, then I agree that the image was cropped too tightly. However, if the subjects were the stamens, then I might have cropped more. Wonder what a macro crop would do on the y ones? Can you tell I like those the best? |

WOW! Love this converted to black and white. Great eye contact. I see some HDR halo at her shoulders and outline. I would keep the plastic bags on the right. I would remove the upper left stuff to the large bags. Wouldn't that give a spiral lead in line (I forgot the real name but you will know it.)? I like the lower crop to the baskets. I agree with Renee about removing the basket behind her.
Having just completed a lesson on portrait photography, I really appreciate this photo. |

Nice DOF and the lines in the background. Hum, I see what Jon and Renee mean about the urn stem. Would it be unwise to crop closer to the base so that the stem is not seen? Beautiful urn |

I like the added space for the feet. The blurred background does make her stand out. Wonder what it would look like if cropped to a portrait with the upper left erased. I find the lines of the seat drawing my eye to the upper left corner and away from your subject's face. Like the post processing. Nice lipstick! |

Maybe still too much dark foreground? I wanted the horizon on the lower third line. What do you suggest? |

I wonder which one of you would be the first to comment on too much dark. I, too, thought that but didn't have much time to submit. I agree and tried a different crop. Added the letterbox outline suggested by Jon. Then I could not remember what I did in post processing. Definitely not my best month. |

Letterbox? Letterbox? Well, that took me a while to figure out how to find the right program to do this. |
