Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
54 Jul 17 Reply Thanks, Aavo. Hopefully I will see something similar on my trip to Japan next summer.

54 Jul 17 Reply I take my own, but I also use the textures from the course. What I use in this group will always be a primary image I have taken. I made sure I asked Peggy before I submitted anything that used a "stock" texture. If that is, in fact, an issue, I can change what I submit to the group.

54 Jul 17 Reply Ha, as soon as I saw Judi's work I recognized her. She is part of the Awake course I am taking online from Sebastian Michaels. I have learned from looking at her work on her ArtBoja portfolio page. Jul 8th
54 Jul 17 Reply Peggy and Betty,
Thank you for your kind words. The top character means mind, spirit or soul. I cannot for life of me remember what the lower character means. Sorry.
As for Fuji-san, I debated whether to take it out or not. I agree it either needs to be stronger or removed.
Hi Phillipa. Thank you for your comments. I left the tree branches at the bottom of the heron because I was afraid he would look strange without being grounded to something. He doesn't have any feet visible in the original. I'll have to think about what I could do. I suppose I might be able to mask the bottom so it is slightly less sharp. Thanks for the link to Judi Miller. I will chase it down.

54 Jul 17 Comment Very interesting and compelling image, Phillipa. I like how you used the one spot behind her head as a halo. The red very effectively conveys the "dark" in the title. At first I was going to suggest masking some of the texture off her face, but the more I looked at it, the more I liked it. Then I read your description and realized it was part of the original.
The one thing I noticed is that there seem to be a couple places on the mannequin that seem to have gotten blown out in the processing.
I don't use an iPhone or Mac, so I am totally unfamiliar with the apps you're using. Whatever they are, they seem to be effective tools for you. Congrats.

54 Jul 17 Comment Great concept for showing time. I could eat those pears for breakfast this morning. I agree with Phillipa's comments about the clock and the frame. I also agree with Peggy about pushing the fruit outside the frame to provide a more 3D effect.
I might suggest putting a drop shadow behind the pears. They look a bit flat. You might also consider just using the clock face enlarged to fill the space in the upper left if the original is large enough (per Phillipa's comment) and drop the opacity to around 50% to give it more of an ethereal feel.

54 Jul 17 Comment I have to agree with the others. This is a wonderfully evocative image. I can feel the anger of the sea as it tears the boat apart. The sailor shows up fine on my monitor, but I can see where it might be a little dark. I like how you got rid of most of the image and zeroed in on the face. He could easily be the captain looking back at the wreck. I think I would have cloned out the town on the side of the hill, but that is a personal thing. Jul 8th
54 Jul 17 Comment This is a great image. I like how you decreased the shadows in the original model shot to make a a more consistent exposure. The use of the polar coordinates is a brilliant idea. Overall it is very well done. The colors do a great job of unifying the image. The only quibble I might have is that there is a slight haloing from the extraction, but you have to zoom in to see it. Just an excellent image. Jul 7th
