Beautiful image! I agree that your are drawn in by both the serenity and intensity of the model's eyes. On my screen, there seems to be a white outline on the sword and shoulder of the model which may need to be eliminated. I would also suggest leaving a bit more room on the left of the sword. You did a wonderful job calming down the bright areas of the background. |

Joan, I LOVE sunflowers! I do agree that this one is quite busy however taking it from the back gives us a new perspective of their whimsical beauty. I think for me, the biggest detractor are the two leaves that are totally horizontal. I tried to use Puppet Warp to get them to fit more with the whimsy of the flower and ruffled back. I also used ON1 to lessen the noise and then cropped a bit. |

Charles, you have really captured this gentleman! The eyes, wrinkles, dirt and soot tell us all. Your crop is spot on. I do like that you included the background. It gives us a sense or place. My only suggestion would be to darken the bright white area in the background a bit more and to lighten the left side of his jacket a bit more. I allows us to see both the wonderful texture of the fabric and the object in his hand. Great image! |

I must say I do love the color version best. I feel the contrast in the blues of the sky and ocean allow the wonderful stone colors of the fort with its texture to be the star of the image. With that said, I can see the possibilities in the black and white version however I feel that the depth contrast in the background competes with what you want the viewer to see. I have attempted to make a background a little less contrasted and added to the texture of the building which may allow the viewer to focus on the fort. Beautiful image! |
