Walter, I think you did a great job eking out the details of this pelican. I agree with Mohanan, work on getting the bird sharper. I tried using the ON1 plug in and I think it may have helped. |

Hank, I think both your image and your "About the Image" are absolutely AMAZING... I have very little knowledge of what is entailed in fighting fires but the combination of your image and narrative made the moment you depicted come to life for me. I do feel that there are some elements in the original (color of smoke, tree tops etc) that give us a better sense of what it taking place. In Ian's comments, he refers to this piece as "photojournalism" which I feel is spot on. With that said, I think including tree tops etc. should be included. FABULOUS image.... |

Bogdan, this image is like a fairy tale! I think your post processing is spot on and I would not change a thing. Colors, focal point, framing with the blossoms all work together to make this a true master piece. |

OK Joan, here is my off the wall suggestion: Why not make it into a black and white and let it be about textures and composition? |

Thank you Bud! Can you tell me, if I do move to f/9 because of wanting the flower itself to be sharper, where should my focus point be? In this shot, I focused on the carpels. Should I focus on tip of the petal in the front? |

Bud, what an INCREDIBLE capture! You must have been so excited to see this taking place before your eyes. Your image is tack sharp to my eyes. The coloring is spot on however in order to differentiate the bird from the rocks, you may want to consider a few adjustments. I am by know means an expert in using Photoshop, I tried a few adjustments selecting the bird and then selecting the inverse to blur the background and differentiate the levels of color between the bird and the background. Finally, I cropped and added a vignette. Bud, your image has such incredible potential, I hope you will continue tweek it under you capture that moment again. |

Mohanan, what a great image! The vivid colors and the landscape make this image a real beauty. I can not believe the clarity of this film. We definitely get a sense of the culture. I would however like to see a different crop. The vendor is such a part of this story, I would like to see her entire body. I also do not feel the darken image in the background adds to this scene. I do think your post processing of the color really adds to the image. I am attaching a poor version of my vision for this image but hopefully you will understand my intent. |

Thanks for the suggestions Walter. Are you speaking of the petal off to the right that is touching the carpels? If so, yes that was my challenge in capturing this flower. |

Thanks for the feedback Hank! I always struggle with what my aperture should be when photographing flowers with so many petals. I will definitely try your suggestions. |
