Thanks for the "process the sky and clouds separately" suggestion. It is definitely something I will try next time. |

Joan, I never knew that the NIK Color Efex Detail Extractor existed. I just found it and definitely will use it in the future. Thanks! |

Bunny, thanks for your suggestions. You are spot on with how that area on the right looks cloned. Will try to work on that as well as the sky. I felt it needed a more interesting sky but my Photoshop skills just are not there yet. I do think tightening up the crop would help. |

I think you are off to a good start for editing this image. There are still many spots that need to be eliminated as well as a hint of the tree behind the bird. I think the coloration of the bird in your original image is stronger than your edited image. In the original we see more defining of the birds body, bottom wings and tail. Maybe just using a cloning tool to darken areas of the background would have been better than darkening the overall image. |

Bunny, you did a great job editing this piece to bring out the colors of the mountains behind Susie. From her facial express and her hands, I can tell that Susie is a wonderful story teller. I know that each time you look at this photo, the day and the story will come back to you. You captured the essence of a magical travel day! They are the kind of days we dream of when we go about our day-to-day lives. Thank you for sharing! |

Joan, what a GREAT image. I can't believe that you here able to get so much sky detail back in your editing. Your composition, including the trees in the front, really add to the image. I think you can easily fix the upper left horizon in Photoshop. Thanks for sharing! |

This is a strong image. Your editing allowed the variations in the layers of the rock to add to the drama of the image. The one thing you may want to consider is cropping it a bit less on the bottom so that we can see a stopping point for the water. You may also consider slightly altering that bottom rock so that it is a little less pink. |

This is a WONDERFUL image! It tells a very dramatic story. I think you are spot on in your editing. I like the blue cast of the image. I may have cropped it a bit less on the left side to allow for matting. I might have also toned down the bright spot on the mine wall so that it does not distract from the miner himself. This image will make a great addition to your portfolio. Thanks for sharing! |
