I like the composition of the photo in that the foreground is arranged as a terrace of three distinct levels where the water flows down a step and over the rocks as mini waterfalls! If I look closely too the left, I could see two heads facing each other, like a man and a woman! A lovely capture, David! |

The curve leading line and reflection of the scenery made up a beautiful composition in this photo. It's late in the afternoon, around sunset time, so that the left half of the frame is in a darker tone than the rest! The big tree and its reflection gets all the attention, in m opinion, yet its reflection show very few details of the branches. I I weeew to do anything, I would open up shadow a tad in this area to show some details of the branches in the water. |

This is another photo that has something to do with the elements: fire (sunset), wind, air, water, fog, etc.each one becomes vital to the scenery as in this composition. I tend to agree with Bill with regard to the tree: it stands in my view of the big rock in the background. |

True to the architects' theme of bringing tne outdoors indoors, Bill did a great job demonstrating their intentions in this image. The photo is crystal clear, with sharp focus and soothing color scheme. All I can say at this juncture is the composition does evoke a sense of greatness, calm and serenity. What needs to be done to make it better had already voiced by many talents in our group so all I can do is to let them soak in and hopefully benefit from them.
Great shot, Bill! |

Thank you all for your comments, suggestions and opinions about my photograph. They are not only apt but also educational. I am an amateur who does not have emough digital skills, photoshop in particular, to achieve what I cannot with photographic gear. My intention is to reproduce to the best of my abiltiies what reality provides without resorting to manipulative methods to make an ordinary photo perfect, just like when I took photos with a film camera! I do use Lightroom, in as much as it allows a photographer to overecome his/her shortcomings in exposure or less than perfect focus, etc. In short, I would refrain from interfering with software if I could. I learned a lot from each of you by listening to all comments and suggestions, and I do appreciate your spending time doing critique. So please bear with me!! |

Thanks Michael for your keen observation. However, the so called "halo" around the tree line is indeed sunlight peeking out from the dark clouds, not a result of adjustment in LR.
The reason I did not remove the black hole on the street is that this is snow country, last winter did a lot of havoc to roads and streets in the area. The pothole was a result of snow plowing repeatedly done in a very short time frame, like 3 or 4 times within a week or ten days. The "white sign" is not a sign, it is a mailbox, and it is part of the structure that bears consequences of frigid winter. This box is replaced not too long after the second blizzard of last winter, that's why it is white instead of black like the rest of them in the neighbourhood. Those details are part of the story I would like to tell in this photo! |
