Thank you Bill, Hattie and Arne: Your comments are valuable, suggestions are practical. I would try my best to abosrb all these ideas and put them in my future posts. |

A very nice capture of a lonely tree in the mountain of Norway. I agree with Bill's suggestion. |

Ditto with Michael on cropping! A very peaceful scenery of a typical New England town. |

The iconic Baobab Tree! This is a very nice capture of an interesting tree, beautiful lighting and well composed. Besides Michael's suggestions that I agree, I would also want to see the elephant closer to the tree! Maybe next trip Richard! |

Hats off to you Hattie. I would shun away from scenes like this: electrical towers, poles and wires! Oftenetimes I ran into nice situation of bright orange color of a sunset like this, yet when I compose, the black lines criss-crossoed my frame to the point where I would say "forget it," then lower the camera to savour in the beauty with my own eyes. I do not have good skills to remove all those thin electrical lines in Photoshop!
I like the color and composition of this shot, and agreed with Richard adjustment and removal of extraneous power tower and liens. |

I like your composition and color tone. If I took this photo, I would want to make the moss pop out more. |

Thanks, Michael. I hear you loud and clear, but I prefer to keep things as they are with regards to the pipe, the blue wall and color of the soil. These are the very points that I want to make: expensive yet primitive(makeshift drain pipe), unstable terrain, mixture of color and shape, etc. I would add some clarity to the structures as you suggest. I do not have much leeway in changing position or angle of vue as I would stand on a steep slope and bend over the guard rail to get these houses in the frame. If I walk down a few feet, a knoll in the foreground would block my view of the houses almost completely. In sum, I would always want to keep things as truthful and as realistic as they are. |

Thanks Richard for your adjustment. There must be a subtle difference in monitor calibration, as it looks a tad contrasty on my monitor. Anyway, your suggestion would make me keep in mind of the brghtness/contrast issue when reduced for web display. |
