99 Mar 26 Reply Robin, thanks for your comments. For me it is the mess which makes it for me as that is just what London is like. But I accept that from the point of a critique then the image makes the viewer look all over the place. This kind of image breaks many 'rules' but I am beginning to tire of perfectly formed images which focus on just one thing. I have entered this in my photo club's comp this month for mono urban scenes so will see what the judge says. I expect his critique might be the same as yours! We'll see!! Mar 21st
99 Mar 26 Comment Julie, good use of some post processing techniques to bring out the delicacy of the petals at the top of the flower. The textures also add some extra character to this image which is well composed with the flower stem moving up from the lower corner. Mar 10th
99 Mar 26 Comment Kathleen, yes, the figure does make the scene somewhat mysterious as does the effect of shooting through the rain-covered glass which at first I thought was noise but that too adds to the overall mystery effect. I also am intrigued by the 'roped-off' or no go areas. Maybe the figure has found one of the safe places to stand. An image which makes the viewer think of all possible storylines. Mar 10th
99 Mar 26 Comment Mark, this is an interesting interpretation of a rural scene with excellent definition on the bridge and in the reflection. You might consider cropping a few centimetres off the top to make the bridge even more of the focus of the image. Mar 10th
99 Mar 26 Comment Robin, this is another of your couples images which capture relationships. I like this one too for its simplicity and yet a suggestion of a far more complex story. You might consider taking out the stray hairs on the girl's face . Mar 10th
99 Mar 26 Comment Barbara, mono works particularly well for this subject and treated in this way. The shape of the decanter and its internal patterns and stress marks are well captured. Rim lighting is effectively realised here and I particularly like the way this has rendered the decanter stopper. Mar 10th
