Gary, this is a lovely moody image and perfect for a mono image. I think you have handled the conditions very well. I might consider a tiny crop off the top which would no affect the horizon line too much. |

Kathleen, this is a great disappointment! The lines in this month's image are so symmetrical rather than in some of your previous images, that I had been expecting another challenging perspective. But seriously this is a beautiful piece of architecture all photographed. I like the capture of the texture and lighting and I agree that without the people in the booths it does feel like a still life. |

This was a difficult subject to take given your vantage point and the considerable background distractions. But you have caught a good moment and your decision to convert to mono was the right one. But I agree with Gerard - there are too many things in the image and Gerard's crop does help to resolve that. If you use the remove tool in Photoshop it would be helpful to take out the First Aid sign in the background and possibly the man in the white shirt top right behind the cheerleader with her raised arms. But even so, this still leaves quite a lot distractions. |

Robin, this is an interesting shot. I like the contrast between the rough and ready drivers and the delicacy of the small girl. The reflections of the other people on the side of the engine drew my eye and I wonder if it would help if they could go - otherwise a lovely shot. |

Gerard, it's always a brave thing to do when a photographer goes for a'selfie' but of course that word does the image little justice. I like the idea behind this and the way you have composed and framed the despair. The background creases are OK but I could do without the 'v'-shaped lines top right and the shirt cuff on the left draws the eye. The other thing is that I think the image is far too bright if you are trying to suggest this kind of emotion but otherwise the metaphor is pretty apt for some current affairs! |

Barbara, this is another beautiful image. You have caught the delicacy and structure of this bloom very well. Whilst I can see what Gerard is saying, for me your composition shows the bloom in a far fuller way - changing the orientation would make it somewhat constrained. I like it as it is. |
