Gary, technically this is a great image and extremely creative. So very well done for the concept and the creation. However I also agree with Robin and Gerard that it needs something to bring out the the power of the swirl of the vortex - so Gard's adaptation is a possible option. |

Kathleen, this would be a great image to throw at a competition judge! Just where do you look?! But for me I think that is the interest that this image creates. You could argue that in some ways it is a total disaster as there are so many lines crossing over and verticals and horizontals that this image should maybe come with a health warning! But seriously I like the power of it. I think Gerard's crop is a good one. As for your title - which is obviously accurate - but 'Criss-cross' might be an alternative.

John, this is clearly a very complex piece of processing as well as careful composition planning and i think you have done a good job with both. I like the vignette effect and think the clouds are important so I would keep them in. |

Robin, although this shot is of a place not too far from where I too live it's to my shame that I have not explored it except for a visit a few years back on a short holiday. Your image has made me think that really we should go back. This is a powerful shot and another example of how good phone cameras have become. I like the composition and drama in the sky. You get a sense of the expanse of this place and apart from some tyre tracks that this place is totally uninhabited. |

Gerard, I agree with Kathleen when she positions your image back in time and also agree that this is one of its qualities which gives the image its emotional appeal. The central positioning of the boats is not a problem for me and I like the balance of the lone boat on the far left with the building on the far right. I might be tempted to crop a little off the base to just about the foremost object sticking out of the beach as this would help bring the boats closer but would not destroy the panoramic view of the scene. |

Hi Barbara, it's a long time since we visited Niagara Falls but he sheer power and force of the water remains a lasting memory and this what you have captured here. I remember taking the trip where you can stand underneath the Falls and experience them from a different level. I like the composition of your image and the the high vantage point really works well. I have no suggestions as to improvements as I think your capture and treatment just do the job very well.
