Linda, thanks for your version if this which does add another dimension to the image. Will try it.

Kathleen, you have a good eye for capturing buildings, ships and now rockets in different ways and I enjoyed seeing this one. Gerard's interpretation is a great alteration but I like the way your original captures the shape and texture of the rocket. Your toning of the image also emphasises that too. Do we need the explanation notice on the lower right? Maybe, maybe not - I can't make up my mind. |

Linda, I like this shot very much. Some good processing techniques used to an advantage and the mono adds a touch of drama to the movement of the bird. My only suggestion is that the rocks at the base are somewhat on the light side and draw the eye, particularly the big one at the base and you might consider darkening that. |

Gerard, when images like this come up in photo club competitions the inevitable comment is that they are simply records of another's work - as indeed you have suggested in your own comments. But I agree with your other comments that this image creates a different angle on the work which actually shows in fine detail the skill of the sculptor. I also like your treatment of the image in that the viewer is drawn up to the top. |

Barbara, it's amazing how your mono flower images work almost against what should be the case! I mean, surely most would say that a flower without colour is without beauty? But your studies show the power of a photograph to demonstrate that beauty in a different way. And this one is no exception. Very well lit and composed but even more so I think this image captures the delicacy of a flower which is often thought very robust mainly because it has such a bold colour. I like the shades of grey in the petals which completely alters the assault on the eye that the full coloured sunflower usually brings. My only question is, can you now call it 'Sunflower'?! |
