I agree with Marla and Ruth. Great image. Sorry, I don't have editing capability right now, but maybe see if you can crop the bottom ever so slightly to remove the (very small) blue-ish strip bottom right. I really like that this has the black silhouette look - the little bit of light hitting the rail on the bottom right grabs my eyes a bit. |

I don't have PS, so sorry, I can't help with the tools. Did you try googling for it?
Interesting photo, and a technique I'll put on my list of things to try. It certainly has initial interest as it got me looking around the photo for a while. I was mostly trying to figure out what I was looking at, before reading your description. Is there a reason you had to freeze in layers? I see a lot of bubbles that, to me, distract from the attention on the flower. The yellow is nice and vibrant, which I like. Admittedly, I had to google day-lily as I wasn't quite sure what flower I was looking at. That flower is very 3-D, and I'm not sure that lends itself well to being frozen and photographed in a flat matter. Maybe try this with something like a sunflower or daisy. |

Nice job capturing such great details of the pollen. Color-wise, the purple petals and yellow pollen contrast with each other very nicely. I find my eyes getting a distracted by the green stem of the other flower in the background on the left. I tried to de-saturate it and lighten it a bit, but my attempts were unsuccessful. Also, the center of the flower is a bit close to the edge for me, also leading my eyes away from the pollen. Maybe it were possible to frame it to leave out or minimize the other flower and give a bit more room on the right? Nice picture! |

Wow - gorgeous pic. I have no suggestions for potential improvement - I think it's perfect as is. I love that the train you got pops out with its coloring, while still maintaining the yellow-green tones of the overall scene. The train has perfect "breathing" room from the foreground trees camera right. Nice job! |

Interesting subject and I love the title for this! It made me look at this photo in a completely different way than I had before seeing your title. I'm curious to know whether they are wood or some other material. They almost look like wax.
Overall, I really like this graphic and simple composition. I realize the space constraints you must have been working with - wonder if the element in the foreground, camera left could have been removed? |
