72 Jul 17 Comment Hi Sarah, I can't get a full screen view so I can't see how the whites look. Overexposing the whites on a black/white subject can be a problem. I've been looking at a lot of loon pics in anticipation of trying my hand at them in Michigan next summer. They are fascinating birds. My personal conclusion is that I will need to get very low which means a canoe or Yak. Second need, mirror smooth water. That might be a challenge on a lake the size of yours. Jul 10th
72 Jul 17 Comment Hey Sarah, I'm having trouble sorting out finals and originals and getting full size views. New group quirks for sure. I'm envious of you who have a chance at Loon pics. We get them in Arkansas but only drab winter plumage. Jul 8th
72 Jul 17 Comment Mary, nice PP on this now that I looked at the original. I suspect that there are always some "bugs" to work out with a new group. Jul 7th
72 Jul 17 Comment For some reason my original is not making it. It would show that this is a pretty substantial crop, from 20 mp to about 6. I often shoot from my car with a bean bag for a rest. Jul 6th
72 Jul 17 Comment Mary, I am so envious of you divers. I tried it last year in Belize and after 15 minutes I understood that I am destined to stay on dry land. I'm thinking maybe your portrait and original got mixed up because of left upper corner. I really like the composition. The formula of 2x in front compared to tail really works here. Maybe even cropping some off the bottom might be worth trying but just to emphasis the Grouper even more.
PP can do wonders. I'd experiment with boosting the reds or oranges. (The original(?) shows that maybe you did that). I like the bubble (?) beneath the chin but might clone out the dark spot below that. The bubble above the eye and the one to far left don't add IMO. Bottom line, sweet shot. Not that I'd be in this situation in light of my Belize experiment but I'm interested in your gear.

72 Jul 17 Comment Hi Abhijeet. Nice to participate in a group with you. Having rare subjects is always a big plus. I really like the background (BG) on the calf. The focus and exposure look fine on this. To me the topic is the calf who seems to be thinking, "hey mom, wake up". IMO that lack of action/story keeps this from going to the next level. Jul 6th
