Let me rephrase, I think the blacks are blocked up. You could put the Topaz filter on a layer on top of the image and mask out the effects on the black parts of the image such as along the river, and still have the topaz effects on the other parts of the image. I don't dislike the filter effect, just that it had unintended consequences to parts of the image.
Cheers,
Tom

Hi Henry,
Love the sculpture. The scene is quite literal, but the artwork is abstract. I would have added a texture layer or two to the sky and the water, and maybe play with a monochrome version of this.

Hi Brian,
Very creative composition. I agree with Brad's suggestion. I don't feel I can offer you any suggestions on your work.

Hi Julie,
Interesting composition! I think I agree with Brian on the crop and for the reasons he stated. The only thing I have to add is that the Topaz filter seems to have blocked out the blacks to the point that I find to be unpleasing.

Whew, hi Brian. You had a lot to say! I understand what you are saying about the placement, but this new crop seems off to me. I'm removing the left man leaving the frame, but leaving the center man in the center adds more weight to the grief for me.
Thanks for all the comments.

Hi Julie,
Thanks for the comments. I've decided to remove the far left figure, as one person commented "in grief, you are staring out into space, whereas the left framed person seems to be starting at the man leaving the frame." Thanks again for confirming that view.

Hi Brad,
Thanks for the comments. Those sad Toms were taken thru a glass block as a straight shot, but I understand your concern as it could have been done with a PS filter. I'm looking forward to the comments from the rest of the group.
Cheers,
Tom
