11 May 23 Reply Peter, I don't remember what I did when I first modified your image. So, I went back to your original image and did the following, First, selected Topaz A1 noise, Standard mode, remove noise at 65, enhance sharpness at 59, post processing recover detail 6 and color noise reduce at 38. After redoing your image using just A1 noise filter, I did not notice any difference in sharpness from your processed image. So, I must have then gone to Topaz A1 sharpness (which I just did) and selected lens blur, remove blur at 90, suppress noise at 42 and remove artifacts at 81. After the A1 Sharpness adjustments my second revised image is much sharper than your revised image - see 5/12/23 image. I hope this is not too confusing. May 12th
11 May 23 Reply Peter, I think the reason for the increased sharpness in my revision comes from the use the somewhat new Topaz A1 DeNoise filter. About a year ago I bought two new Topaz filters - Topaz DeNoise A1 and Topaz Sharpen A1. I usually use only the Topaz Denoise filter which has 4 options - standard, clear, low light and severe. For each of these options there is a slider where you can adjust the amount of noise removal and another slider to adjust the amount of enhancing sharpness. The filter offers a split view where you can view half of the image without the filter and the other half with the filter applied. And, you can also view all 4 applications at the same time. I probably just used the standard option in making my revised image. I think Topaz offers a 30 day trial. I very seldom use the Topaz Sharpen A1 but do find it useful in eliminating motion blur. Please let me know if my explanation is helpful. May 6th
11 May 23 Reply Henry, thanks for mentioning that there are two varieties. I was wondering why the flowering portion of your west coast image looked so different from my east coast skunk cabbage. May 6th
11 May 23 Reply Michael, thanks for your comment. May 6th
11 May 23 Reply I also photograph skunk cabbages here in Toledo Ohio. They are very interesting in that they generate their own heat and will blossom in late winter. Attached is my photograph of a skunk cabbage just emerging. May 6th
11 May 23 Comment Great image which works so much better the color original. I really like the composition. In my revision I sharpened just the flower and darkened some of the white areas. May 6th
11 May 23 Reply I did not consider the image as a possible mono version when I photographed the scene. May 6th
11 May 23 Comment Peter, I like your image and the way the diagonals flow. I especially like that you cloned out the bright spots in the original and the dark verticals in the top left corner. A minor suggestion is to slightly brighten the image. In my revision I did so and I also sharpened using a Topaz sharpen filter. May 6th
11 May 23 Comment Michael your color image is great but the mono version is even better. I feel the sepia tone accentuates the feeling of loneliness of the subject. My only suggestion is to consider cropping some off the sky to emphasize the subject more and perhaps to lighten the sky somewhat. May 6th

18 May 23 Reply Thanks Gunter, I will try that. May 21st
18 May 23 Comment Your creation is a wonderful conversion resulting in a wonderful design. My preference, however, is to have an image that is not so centered. I hope you are not offended by my taking your image and trying to create an image with that is not so centered. May 9th
18 May 23 Comment Your image is an amazing creation, very interesting. But, to me my eye is drawn only to the center of the image. I feel the image needs something of interest away from the center. I've tried but cannot come up with any suggestions. May 9th
18 May 23 Comment I like your original image except for the bus which you cloned out. Your final image is also great but you might consider applying the expressionism filter only on the background and leave the cannon as in the original image. May 9th
18 May 23 Comment Your original image is a snap shot. You final image is a wonderful work of art. Kudos. I have no suggestions. May 9th

78 May 23 Reply Thanks, Sunhil. I did not see those areas. May 19th
78 May 23 Reply Many thanks for your comments but any skills I have come from practice and learning from many mistakes. May 11th
78 May 23 Reply James, your revision looks great. Kudos. May 11th
78 May 23 Comment I agree with the comments that a large tree in the middle of the image is distracting but I could not clone it out without the image no longer looking natural. So, instead I applied a Topaz creative filter to create more of an impression instead of a portrayal of reality (and I did leave both chains in the image). May 10th

78 May 23 Reply Terry, I have to agree that your darker intense colors look great but I still don't like the partial protruding wall in the bottom right corner.

78 May 23 Reply Ed, if you divided an image into thirds (both horizontal and vertical) where those lines cross are called golden mean points. An image looks more pleasing if a key element of an image is placed at one of those intersecting lines. Notice that in my crop the sun is at one of those points. May 7th
78 May 23 Comment The image is very interesting with a nice sunrise. However, I feel the tree on the right side of the image is distracting. So, in my revision I cropped out that portion of the image and increased the contrast. May 6th
78 May 23 Comment The image is interesting but to me lacks a center of interest. I feel the more interesting part of the image is the large seed pod in the bottom right corner. So, in my revision I cropped to feature that seed pod. But, then the seed pod lower and to the left is distracting as it is covered by two dried seed pods so I copied the larger blossom, reduced its size and pasted it over the smaller seed pod. May 6th
78 May 23 Comment Very nice image. I suggest the shadow areas should be a little brighter and the highlights a little reduced. May 6th
78 May 23 Comment I love this image with great colors and composition. However, I feel that the bottom portion of the image should be brighter to be more like the rest of the image. In my revision I brightened that portion and cloned out the protruding wall in the bottom right corner. May 6th
78 May 23 Comment Nice conversion. And, as has been said, I would brighten the left face. May 6th
78 May 23 Reply You are right about how bright that area is. I have never used a gradient but it is about time I learned how to do it. May 6th
78 May 23 Reply I selected just the top portion of the tower. Then I went to Edit, then I selected Transform and then selected Warp. Once you are in this mode you can drag portions of the image to change the size. I usually make such changes in a separate layer so as not to destroy the original. You will also find various other options in the Transform mode but I usually end up using the Warp mode. May 6th
78 May 23 Comment I like this image; great color, great composition, great conversion from the original and great removal of distracting elements. Usually it is a "no no" to have the subject of an image centered but, in this photo, the centered object does not bother me because of the great leading line and also because there is so much of interest elsewhere in the image. The photo was taken with a very wide angle lens and the camera was probably tilted to include the top of the tower which makes the top of the tower smaller and appear to fall away. In Photoshop I could not correct the falling away effect but I did increase the top of the tower which helped a little and I also blurred and lightened the clouds. May 5th
